Hemşirelerin Empatik Eğilimi ile Yaşlılara Yönelik Ayrımcılık Tutumları Arasındaki İlişkisi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, hemşirelerin empatik eğilim düzeyleri ve yaşlı ayrımcılığı arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı, kesitsel, ilişkisel tipteki çalışma nisan-haziran 2017 tarihleri arasında 132 hemşire ile gerçekleşti. Hemşirelere yapılandırılmış soru formu, Empatik Eğilim Ölçeği ve Fraboni Ayrımcılık Ölçeği uygulandı.
Bulgular: Regresyonda model yaşlı ayrımcılığının %6’sını açıklandı. Fraboni Ayrımcılık Ölçeği puanı ile yaş, yaşlıya dair bilgileri medyadan elde etme, yaşlı bakımında gönüllük ve empatik eğilim arasında güçlü ilişki belirlenmiştir.
Sonuç: Bu çalışmada, hemşirelerin ayrımcılık ve empatik eğilim puanları orta düzeydeydi. Empaitk eğilimi artırmak için eğitimler düzenlenmelidir.

ASSOCIATION OF NURSES' EMPATHIC TENDENCY AND ATTITUDES TO AGEISM TOWARD OLDER ADULTS

Öz

Objective: This study aims to determine nurses in correlate with their levels of empathic tendencies and attitudes to ageism towards older adults.
Material and Method: A descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional, with a convenience sample of 132 Turkey nurses was conducted in April- June 2017. Structured question form, Scale of Empathic Tendency and Fraboni Scale of Ageism were applied to nurses.
Results: Model explained that 6% of the variance to ageism in regression. In this model, factors that remained strongly associated with FSA score were gender, obtaining information about the elderly from the media, willingness to care for the elderly and empathic tendency (p<0.05).
Conclusion: This study found that ageism and empathic tendencies of nurses were at moderate level. Trainings should be organized to increase the empathy tendencies of nurses.
