Afrika Kökenli Erciyes Üniversitesi Öğrencilerinin Covid 19 Pandemisi Öncesi ve Süresince Eğitim Süreçlerinde Yaşadıkları Temel Sorunlar

Öz

Bu çalışma, uluslararası eğitim olanaklarının yaygınlaşması ile kültürlerarası geçişin önemli aktörleri konumuna gelen uluslararası öğrencilerin sorunlarını ele almaktadır. Bu bağlamda farklı Afrika ülkelerinden Erciyes Üniversitesi’ne eğitim görmeye gelen 10 üniversite öğrencisi çalışma grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, uluslararası öğrencilerin Türkiye’de eğitim aldıkları süre içerisinde en önemli sorunlarının; ayrımcılık, ilişki ve iletişim süreçlerini yönetme ile ilgili sorunlar ve sosyokültürel sorunlar olduğunu göstermektedir. Öğrencilerin yaşadıkları sorunlar, Covid-19 pandemisi öncesi ile kıyaslandığında farklılaşmaktadır. Pandemi sürecinin özellikle akademik sorunları önemli ölçüde arttırdığı gözlenirken, öğrencilerin psikolojik sorunlarında da artış olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir.

Main Problems of African Origin Erciyes University Students Experienced In The Education Process Before and During The Covid 19 Pandemic

Öz

This study examines the problems of international students who have become important actors of intercultural transition with the spread of international education opportunities. In this context, 10 university students from different African countries who came to Erciyes University to study were selected as the study group. Research data were obtained by semi-structured interview method. The results obtained from the study; the most important problems of international students during their education in Turkey; discrimination, problems in managing relationships and communication processes, and sociocultural problems. The problems experienced by students differ when compared to the pre-Covid-19 pandemic. While it is observed that the pandemic process significantly increased the academic problems, it is concluded that the psychological problems of the students also increase.
