Mediatic Construction and Interaction Scale

Abstract

This study aims to develop a scale about the role of mediatic mechanism on interaction. Mediatic mechanism basically refers to instruments that allow individuals to interact each other. Although the mediatic mechanisms have changed so far, their ability to mediate human interaction has remained constant. But there is no scale in literature that can measure this ability. Therefore, this study has intended to meet such a need. Before the required analyzes, a literature review was conducted, experts in the field were interviewed and an item pool was created. Then, questions were asked to a sample group of 216 people. The values of ,915 in the KMO test and χ2= 8249,59 (p≤.01) in the Barlett sphericity test were found. These values proved that the scale is convenient for the explanatory factor analysis (EFA). As a result of EFA, it was seen that the scale consisted of six sub-dimensions and the dimensions explained 75,75% of the total varience. Then confirmatory factor analysis was made and it was seen that the six sub-dimensions of the scale were confirmed and the index values (RMSEA:,054, GFI: ,90, CFI: ,94, NFI: ,92) distributed as required. The values showed that the scale was valid and reliable.
