UNEXPECTED ANT BITES

Öz

Introduction: Among insect bites/stings, allergic reactions due to bee stings are frequently seen. Sometimes, angioedema may occur, especially in the pediatric age group. However, angioedema after an ant bite is a rare condition. Case Report: In this case, we present a child who developed angioedema after his penis and scrotum were bitten by ants. The patient was treated with prednol, antihistamines and ice in the emergency room. The patient's pain, swelling and redness complaints decreased after the treatment. Conclusion: With this study, we showed that ants, which are among the insects that can cause serious allergic results in children, can do this. Parents should be careful about the problems that may occur after insect bites/stings in children.

BEKLENMEDİK YERDE KARINCA ISIRMASI

Öz

Giriş: Böcek ısırmaları/sokmaları arasında arı sokmalarına bağlı allerjik reaksiyonlar sıkça görülür. Bazen de özellikle çocuk yaş grubunda anjioödem oluşabilmektedir. Ancak karınca ısırığı sonrası anjiödem oluşması nadir rastlanacak bir durumdur. Olgu Sunumu: Bu vakada penis ve skrotumu karıncalar tarafından ısırıldıktan sonra anjioödem oluşan bir çocuğu sunduk. Hastaya acil serviste prednol, antihistaminik tedavileri ile buz uygulaması yapıldı. Hastanın ağrı, şişlik ve kızarık şikayetleri tedavi sonrası azaldı. Sonuç: Bu çalışmayla, çocuklarda ciddi allerjik sonuçlara neden olabilecek böceklerden karıncaların da bunu yapabileceğini gösterdik. Ebeveynler, çocuklarda böcek ısırık/sokmaları sonrası oluşabilecek sorunlar karşında dikkatli olmalıdır.
