Peripartum cardiomyopathy falsely diagnosed as pulmonary embolism

Öz

Background : Diagnosis management of cardio respiratory symptoms in peripartum may lead to Confusion Case presentation : We report the case of a 23 years old primiparous woman that was admitted for shortness of breath after seven days post partum. preliminary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism was made and patient received anticoagulation without improvement . Patient condition worsens and got admitted to ICU . point of care ultrasounds has completely changed the outcome . Conclusion : Cardiorespiratory symptoms onset in peripartum makes suspect pulmonary embolism first. However, other life-threatening conditions may occur in this period. Rare incidence makes unlikely thinking about them. Ultrasounds must figure in first line assessment of these patients .

Öz

Arka Plan: Peripartumda kardiyorespiratuvar semptomların tanı yönetimi şu durumlara yol açabilir Karışıklık Vaka sunumu: Doğumdan yedi gün sonra nefes darlığı nedeniyle hastaneye yatırılan 23 yaşında primipar bir kadının vakasını bildiriyoruz. Pulmoner emboli ön tanısı konuldu ve hastaya iyileşme olmaksızın antikoagülasyon verildi. Hastanın durumu kötüleşti ve yoğun bakıma kaldırıldı. Bakım noktasındaki ultrasonlar sonucu tamamen değiştirdi. Sonuç: Peripartumda kardiyorespiratuvar semptomların başlaması ilk olarak pulmoner emboliden şüphelenilmesine neden olur. Ancak bu dönemde başka yaşamı tehdit eden durumlar da ortaya çıkabilir. Nadir görülen durumlar bunları düşünmeyi zorlaştırır. Ultrasonlar bu hastaların ilk basamak değerlendirmesinde yer almalıdır.
