A rare case report of acute vitamin D toxicity due to suicide attempt

Background: Acute vitamin D toxicity is an uncommon event that might happen especially owing to attempted of suicide. Vitamin D toxicity could induce hypercalcemia, Acute kidney injury, and cardiac problems in patients. Case presentation: A 49-year-old Iranian man who has a known case of cerebellar palsy and major depressive disorder refers to us with an issue of calcium – vitamin D tablets overdose due to suicide attempt. He admitted with impression of acute vitamin D toxicity. After treatment with hydration, dialysis, Lasix, calcitonin, Denosumab, and Zoledronic Acid patient clinics improved significantly. Conclusion: Physicians must treat vitamin D overdose patients immediately to prevent secondary adverse effects of hypercalcemia.

İntihar girişimine bağlı akut D vitamini toksisitesinin nadir görülen bir vaka raporu

Giriş: Akut D vitamini toksisitesi, özellikle intihar girişimi nedeniyle ortaya çıkabilen nadir bir olaydır. D vitamini toksisitesi hastalarda hiperkalsemi, akut böbrek hasarı ve kalp sorunlarına neden olabilir. Vaka sunumu: Serebellar palsi ve majör depresif bozukluk bilinen bir vakası olan 49 yaşında bir İranlı erkek, intihar girişimi nedeniyle kalsiyum-D vitamini tabletleri aşırı dozuyla bize başvurdu. Akut D vitamini toksisitesi izlenimiyle başvurdu. Hidrasyon, diyaliz, Lasix, kalsitonin, Denosumab ve Zoledronik Asit tedavisinin ardından hasta klinikleri önemli ölçüde iyileşti. Sonuç: Hekimler, hiperkalseminin ikincil yan etkilerini önlemek için D vitamini aşırı doz hastalarını derhal tedavi etmelidir.
