The Relationship Between Green Supply Chain Management and Environmental Performance: The Mediating Effect of Green Innovation

Öz

Today, with the rapid development of industrialization in the world, the environmental and ecological effects of products have become an important issue. It is not enough for businesses to just make profits and gain competitive advantage; They also need to be responsible for environmental impacts. It is considered a necessity for organizations to adopt various environmental strategies such as pollution reduction, product management and sustainable development to create competitive advantage. The contribution of green supply chain management to sustainability and the focus of green innovation on both improving existing products and technologies to reduce environmental impacts and developing new products and technologies that can potentially reverse and improve the damage to the environment can increase environmental performance and bring the business to a point that cannot be imitated by its competitors. In this context, the aim of the study is to reveal whether green innovation plays a mediating role in the relationship between green supply chain management and environmental performance. In this study, descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, normality test, correlation analysis, regression analysis and Baron and Kenny's (1986) approach were used to test the mediation effect. According to the research findings, green supply chain management has a significant and positive effect on environmental performance and green innovation. Green innovation has a positive and significant effect on environmental performance. Green innovation has a partial mediating effect on the impact of green supply chain management on environmental performance. Businesses that adopt green supply chain management practices and strive to increase green innovation performance may be more likely to achieve their environmental sustainability goals. However, it can contribute to reducing the environmental impact of the business. This process will allow businesses to gain competitive advantage, make cost savings and create sustainable business models.

Yeşil Tedarik Zinciri Yönetimi ve Çevresel Performans Arasındaki İlişki: Yeşil İnovasyonun Aracılık Etkisi

Öz

Günümüzde dünyada sanayileşmenin hızla gelişmesiyle birlikte ürünlerin çevresel ve ekolojik etkileri önemli bir konu haline gelmiştir. İşletmelerin sadece kar elde etmeleri ve rekabet avantajı elde etmeleri yeterli değildir; çevresel etkilere karşı sorumlu olmaları da gereklidir. Kuruluşların rekabet avantajı yaratmak için kirliliğin azaltılması, ürün yönetimi ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma gibi çeşitli çevresel stratejileri benimsemesi bir zorunluluk olarak düşünülmektedir. Yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetiminin sürdürülebilirliğe katkısı ve yeşil inovasyonun hem çevresel etkileri azaltmak için mevcut ürün ve teknolojileri iyileştirmeye hem de çevreye verilen zararı potansiyel olarak tersine çevirebilecek ve iyileştirebilecek yeni ürünler ve teknolojiler geliştirmeye odaklanması çevresel performansı artırarak işletmeyi rakipleri tarafından taklit edilemeyecek bir noktaya getirebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetimi ve çevresel performans arasındaki ilişkide yeşil inovasyonun aracılık rolü üstlenip üstlenmediğini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada tanımlayıcı istatistikler, açımlayıcı faktör analizi, normallik testi, korelasyon analizi, regresyon analizi ve aracılık etkisini test etmek için ise Baron ve Kenny (1986)'nin yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetiminin çevresel performansı ve yeşil inovasyonu anlamlı ve pozitif yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Yeşil inovasyonun çevresel performansı pozitif ve anlamlı şekilde etkilediği saptanmıştır. Yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetiminin çevresel performans üzerindeki etkisinde yeşil inovasyonun kısmi aracılık etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Yeşil tedarik zinciri yönetimi uygulamalarını benimseyen ve yeşil inovasyon performansını artırmak için çabalayan işletmelerin çevresel sürdürülebilirlik hedeflerine ulaşmaları daha olası hale gelebilecektir. Bununla birlikte işletmenin çevresel etkilerini azaltmalarına katkı sağlayabilir. Bu süreç, işletmelerin rekabet avantajı elde etmelerine, maliyet tasarrufları yapmalarına ve sürdürülebilir iş modelleri oluşturmalarına olanak tanıyacaktır.
