Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the short-term efficacy of
relaxation training in women diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea.

Methods: Forty-four cases (22.64±3.45 years, height: 164.8±4.91 cm, body mass index: 22.03±4.04 kg/m2) who diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea were evaluated in
two consecutive menstruation.
Demographic characteristics and medical history of the patients were recorded.
Menstrual pain symptoms of the cases were evaluated with the Menstrual Symptom
Scale and menstrual pain severity with the Visual Analog Scale. No intervention
was performed in the first menstruation.
In the second menstruation, Laura Mitchell Physiological Relaxation
Training was applied at the first 3 days a total of 30 minutes.

Results: There was no difference in menstrual symptoms between the first and the
second menstruation (p>0.05). Laura Mitchell's Physiological Relaxation
Training in which applied second menstrual cycle reduced pain severity (p<0.05).

Conclusion: In primary dysmenorrhea, Laura Mitchell's Simple
Relaxation Training can be used to be an effective approach in the short term.
Randomized controlled studies are needed to examine the long-term effects.

Primer dismenorede gevşeme eğitiminin kısa süreli etkinliğinin incelenmesi

Yıl 2019, Cilt: 6 Sayı: 2, 78 - 85, 23.08.2019

Öz

Amaç:
Bu çalışmanın amacı primer dismenore tanısı almış kadınlarda gevşeme eğitiminin
kısa süreli etkinliğini araştırmaktı.

Yöntem:
Primer dismenore teşhisi alan 44 birey (yaş:22,64±3,45 yıl, boy uzunluğu: 164,8±4,91
cm,
vücut kütle indeksi: 22,03±4,04 kg/m2) ardışık iki menstürasyonda
değerlendirildi. Bireylerin demografik özellikleri ve tıbbi hikayeleri
kaydedildi.
30 dakika Laura Mitchell’in fizyolojik gevşeme eğitimi uygulandı.

Bulgular: Birinci
ve ikinci menstürasyonun menstrüel semptomları arasında bir fark yoktu
(p>0,05).
İkinci menstürasyonda uygulanan Laura Mitchell’in fizyolojik gevşeme eğitimi ağrı şiddetini azalttı (p<0,05).

Sonuç: Primer
dismenorede ağrıyı azaltma konusunda, Laura
Mitchell’in fizyolojik gevşeme eğitimi kısa dönemde etkili bir yaklaşım olarak
kullanılabilir. Bu konuda uzun dönem etkileri inceleyen randomize kontrollü
çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.
