Association Between Helicobacter Pylori And Nausea And Vomiting In Pregnancy

Aim: The aim of the study is to compare the presence of Helicobacter pylori H. pylori stool antigen in pregnant with nausea and vomiting, asymptomatic pregnant and nonpregnant controls and to determine the association between H. Pylori and nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.Material and Methods: Between March 2018 and April 2019, 56 pregnant women and nonpregnant 41women aged 18-40 years who admitted to gastroeneterology policlinic with dyspeptic symptoms like nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain and weren’t planned to undergo endoscopy were enrolled into the study retrospectively. Pregnants were evaluated based on the presence of nausea and vomiting pregnants with nausae and voming n=29 , without nausea and vomiting n=27 . Pregnants were also calssified based on PUQE scoring system pregnancy-unique quantification of emesis and nausea . H. pylori stool antigen was evaluated.Results: We found no significant association in H.pylori infection between pregnants and control group 21 %37.5 vs. 14 %34.1 , respectively, p>0.05 . When pregnant women were classified based upon the presence of nausea and vomiting, in spite of no statistical significance, we found that H. Pylori infection was higher in the pregnant women with nausea and vomiting 13 %44.8 vs. 8 %29.6 , respectively, p=0.240 .Conclusion: No statistical significance was found in H. Pylori infection prevelance among the pregnant women with and without nausea-vomiting and control groups.

Gebelerde Bulantı ve Kusma İle Helikobakter Pylori İlişkisi

Öz

Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, bulantı ve kusması olan gebelerde, semptomatik olmayan gebelerde ve gebe olmayan kontrol grubunda gaitada helikobakter pylori H. Pylori antijeni düzeylerinin karşılaştırılması ve H. Pylori ile gebelikteki bulantı ve kusma arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılmasıdır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Mart 2018 ile Nisan 2019 tarihleri arasında Gastroenteroloji polikliniğine bulantı, kusma, şişkinlik, ekşime, yanma, epigastrik ağrı, reflü ve diğer dispeptik şikayetler ile başvuran, üst gastrointestinal sistem endoskopisi yapılması düşünülmeyen, gaitada H. pylori direkt antijeni bakılan gebelik durumu olan n=56 ve olmayan n=41 18-40 yaş arası kadınlar retrospektif olarak taranarak çalışmaya alındı. Gebe bireyler belirtmiş oldukları şikâyetlerine göre öncelikle bulantı ve kusması olanlar n=29 ve olmayanlar n=27 olarak iki ayrı gruba ayrılarak incelendi. Daha sonra gebe kadınlar; bulantı, kusma ve öğürme şikâyetlerine göre PUQE pregnancy-unique quantification of emesis and nausea skorlama sistemine uyarlanarak semptomu olmayan, hafif, orta ve şiddetli olmak üzere 4 alt grupta değerlendirildi. Gaita örneğinde H. pylori antijeni kalitatif olarak tespit edildi.Bulgular: H. pylori enfeksiyonu görülme sıklığı açısından bakıldığında ise gebe grubu ve kontrol grubu arasında anlamlı farklılık yoktu sırasıyla; 21 %37.5 vs. 14 %34.1 , p>0.05 . Gebe grubu, bulantı ve kusma şikayetine göre 2’ye ayrılarak H. Pylori enfeksiyonu sıklığı açısından karşılaştırıldığında, bulantı ve kusması olan grupta istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmasa bile H. Pylori enfeksiyonu sıklığı daha yüksekti sırasıyla; 13 %44.8 vs. 8 %29.6 , p=0.240 .Sonuç: Bulantı kusması olan ve olmayan gebelerle, gebe olmayan kontrol grubu arasında H. pylori enfeksiyonu görülme sıklığı açısından bakıldığında anlamlı farklılık yoktur.
