Öz

Amaç: Araştırmada amaç, sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyi ile doğum sonu dönemde anneye yönelik yapılan geleneksel uygulamaların ilişkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı ve ilişki arayıcı nitelikte olup örneklemini doğum sonu dönemdeki 430 anne oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama formu olarak, Katılımcı Bilgi Formu ve Türkiye Sağlık Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin istatistiksel analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve ki kare testi kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmada, annelerin doğum sonu geleneksel uygulama oranının %63.4 olduğu ve yaşı daha büyük olan annelerin daha fazla geleneksel uygulama yaptığı bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Annelerin büyük bir kısmının sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin yeterli ya da mükemmel olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırmada sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin annelerin doğum sonu geleneksel uygulama yapmasını etkilemediği bulunmuştur (p> 0.05).
Sonuç: Araştırmada annelerin sağlık okuryazarlığının doğum sonu geleneksel uygulama yapmayı etkilemediği görülmüştür.

Does the Health Literacy Level Impact the Traditional Practices in Postnatal Period?

Öz

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of health literacy and traditional practices towards the mother in the postpartum period.
Method: The research is descriptive and relationship seeking and the sample consisted of 430 mothers in the postpartum period. In the study as a data collection form, Turkey Participant Information Form and Health Literacy Scale was used. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used in the statistical analysis of the research data.
Results: In the study, it was observed that postpartum traditional practice rate of mothers was 63.4% and older mothers used more traditional practices (p <0.05). It was found that the health literacy level of most of the mothers was sufficient or perfect. In the study, it was found that the level of health literacy did not affect mothers' traditional postpartum practice (p> 0.05).
Conclusion: In the study, it was fund that the health literacy of mothers didn’t affect the traditional practice at the postpartum period.
