İngilizce Öğretmen Adaylarının Gözünden Türkiye'de Öğretmen Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Sistemi

Öz

İngilizce şu anda dünyada en çok konuşulan dildir ve bu durum da İngilizce dili eğitimi ihticanını ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Bu ihtiyacı karşılamak için ülkemizde her geçen gün yeni fakülteler kurulup bölümler açılmakta ve aday İngilizce öğretmeni sayısı giderek artmaktadır, ki bu da var olan ihtiyaçtan fazla ingilizce öğretmen adayı oluşmasına neden olmuştur. Türkiye’de aday İngilizce öğretmenleri arasından ihtiyaç duyulan kadar öğretmeni seçmek için KPSS uygulanmakta ve bu sınavın sonucu temel alınmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Türkiye bağlamında İngilizce öğretmeni adaylarının KPSS’ye ve Öğretmen Ölçme Değerlendirme Sistemine karşı tutumlarını ölçmeyi ve fikirlerini ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma çeşitli üniversitelerde İngilizce Öğretmenliği, İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatu, Mütercim Tercümanlık, Dilbilim ve Çevribilim bölümlerinde okuyan üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencileri ile bu alanlardan mezun olmuş atama bekleyen İngilizce öğretmeni adaylarından oluşan rastgele bir örneklemin gönüllü katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir (n=263). Veriler, Yeşilçınar ve Çakır (2020) tarafında geliştirilen ‘İngilizce Öğrtmenlerinin İşe Alım Sistemine Yönelik Tutumları’ isimli bir anket ve gönüllü katılımcılarla yapılan görüşmeler yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Toplanan nicel ve nitel veriler analiz edilmiş ve bulgular ilgili adayların bölümlerine ve sınıflarına göre farklı tutumlar sergilediğini ortaya koymuştur.

Teacher Evaluation and Assessment System in Türkiye from the Perspective of Prospective EFL Teachers / İngilizce Öğretmen Adaylarının Gözünden Türkiye'de Öğretmen Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Sistemi

Öz

English is currently the most widely spoken language in the world, and this situation reveals the need for English language education. To meet this need, new faculties are being established and departments are being opened in our country every day and the number of prospective English teachers is gradually increasing, which has led to the formation of more English teacher candidates than the existing need. Public Personnel Selection Examination is applied to select as many teachers as needed from among the candidate English teachers in Türkiye and the result of this exam is based on. This study aims to measure the attitudes of prospective English teachers towards Public Personnel Selection Examination and Teacher Evaluation and Assessment System (TEAS) in the context of Türkiye and to reveal their ideas. The study has been conducted with the voluntary participation of a random sampling of prospective English Language Teachers who are in third or fourth grade and graduates waiting for the appointment from different universities’ departments of English Language Teaching, English Language and Literature, Translation, Linguistics and Translation Studies (n=263). The data were obtained through a survey called ‘English Teachers’ Attitudes towards Recruitment System (ETARS) developed by Yeşilçınar and Çakır (2020) and through interviews with voluntary participants. The quantitative and qualitative data collected were analyzed and the findings revealed that the relevant candidates exhibited different attitudes according to their departments and classes.
