The Effect of Virtual Field Trip Material on Achievement, Attitude and Behavior in Teaching Environmental Problems
Öz
This study aimed to examine the effect of virtual field trip materials on students' academic achievement, attitudes, and behaviors in teaching environmental issues. The study was conducted with a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and control group. 60 tenth-grade students studying in the 2023-2024 academic year constituted the study group. Experimental and control groups were determined through unbiased assignment; the virtual field trip material was applied to the experimental group, while the methods prescribed by the curriculum were applied to the control group for 7 weeks. The "Environmental Problems Achievement Test," the "Attitude Towards Environmental Problems Scale," and the "Behavior Towards Environmental Problems Scale" were used in the data collection process. Data were analyzed using a t-test for independent and dependent groups. Findings showed that there was no significant difference between the pre-test achievement, attitude, and behavior mean scores of the experimental and control groups. At the end of the application, it was determined that the achievement and attitude post-test mean scores of the experimental group increased significantly. However, no significant difference was found between the groups in terms of behavioral scores. These results reveal that virtual field trip material is particularly effective in achievement and attitude dimensions.
