Investigation of Air Quality with PM10 in the Eastern Provinces of Turkey

In this study, taken from the The National Air Quality Monitoring System of the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, daily PM10 in 2014 from Eastern provinces were analyzed statistically. Annual arithmetic average of PM10 concentrations from 23 stations was 56 μg m-3 which was under the limit value in 2014 (60 μg m-3) and remained on limit value in 2019 and the EU limit value (40 μg m-3). PM10 concentrations of most of the provinces during winter, due to heating requirements, were the higher than during summer (non-heating period). PM10 concentrations of the Southeastern Anatolia Region in summer have been observed higher than Eastern Anatolia. This is often seen in the summer months in the area was connected to the dust transport from the south. The number of days exceeding the limit Turkey and the EU of the measured values of PM10 in the provinces were low in spring months, it was found the highest level in the winter. Especially the number of days exceeding of Southeastern Anatolia were seen the higher in the summer as well as in the winter. Also in all provinces the number of consecutive days exceeding and the average concentrations of these days were examined.
