In this study, the effects of Y (Yttrium) addition on the structural and magnetic properties of the
Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYxCu2O8 (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.20) superconductors that were prepared by sol-gel method
were investigated. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray
diffraction (XRD) and alternating current magnetic susceptibility measurements performed for the superconducting
samples with partial substitution of Y element instead of Ca element. The XRD results showed that the main
phase was independent of the Y concentration of the Bi- (2212) phase, according to from the energy-dispersive
spectroscopic measurements samples were formed desired compositional values and the SEM results showed that
the microstructures of the samples destroyed by increasing the Y-amount. The results of AC magnetic susceptibility
measurements showed that the critical temperature values decreased with increasing Y contribution.
