Endemism Status in the Reptile Fauna of Turkey

Öz



Endemic species are that exist only in one geographic region and an important part of the natural heritage of a country. There are 139 native reptiles in the Turkey, nigh teen of which are endemic. It is documented that nigh teen Turkish endemic species of reptiles composed of nine lizards and ten snakes. The reptilian and amphibian endemics constituted 13.7% of the total reptile species of Turkey. To date, known endemic species include in ten genera and five families. The Lacertidae with 8 (42.1% of endemic species) endemics is ranked first. All of the known endemic species encountered are of known conservation status based on the 2018 IUCN Red Data List. Among eco-regions, the eastern Mediterranean conifer-sclerophyllous broadleaf forest contains the highest number of endemics (8 species, 42.1%). The highest number of endemics among the phytogeographic (11 species, 57.9%) is found in the Irano-Turanien.

Türkiye Sürüngen Faunasının Endemizm Durumu

Öz

Endemik türler, yalnızca bir coğrafi bölgede bulunan ve bir ülkenin doğal mirasının önemli bir parçası olan türlerdir. Türkiye'de 19 tanesi endemik olan 139 sürüngen türü mevcuttur. Söz konusu türlerin 9 tanesi kertenkele, 10 tanesi ise yılan grubuna dahildir. Sürüngen endemikleri, Türkiye'deki toplam reptil türlerin %13.7'sini oluşturmuştur. Bugüne kadar bilinen endemik türler on cins ve beş familyaya dahildir. Lacertidae familyası 8 endemik tür içerir (endemik türlerin %42.1). Bilinen endemik türlerin tamamı, 2018 verilerine göre IUCN Kırmızı Liste’de koruma statüsüne sahiptir. Ekolojik bölgeler arasında, Doğu Akdeniz kozalaklı-sklerofilik geniş yapraklı orman bölgesi en fazla endemik (8 tür, %42.1) tür içermektedir. Fitocoğrafik bölgeler içerisinde en fazla endemik tür İran-Turan bölgesi içerisinde yer almaktadır (11 tür, %57.9).
