Blaundos KD1/17 Numaralı Kaya Mezarı (Asmalı Mezar) ve Freskoları: İkonografik ve Stilistik Bir Değerlendirme

Öz

Blaundos’un merkezi yapılarının konumlandığı tepenin etrafında uzanan derin vadilerin dik yamaçlarındaki taraçalarda yan yana sıralanmış yüzlerce kaya mezarları yer alır. Şu ana kadar saptanabilmiş olanların cephe düzenlemelerinin, planlarının ve iç donanımlarının çeşitliliği hem kent hem de döneminin defin uygulamaları hakkında önemli bilgiler sunar. Diğer yandan, kentin en az birkaç yüzyıllık sürecine şahitlik etmiş bu geniş nekropolün kaya mezarlarındaki duvar resimleri benzerlerine az rastlanır nicelik ve niteliktedirler. Bunların tamamı belgelenmiş, freskolarının onarımları yapılmıştır. Özellikle Kuzeydoğu Nekropol alanının üst teraslarındaki kaya mezarlarının duvar resimleri nispeten daha sağlam kalabilmiştir. Bunlardan biri de KD1/17 koduyla numaralandırılan kaya mezarıdır (Asmalı Mezar). Bir ön oda ve hemen arkasında uzanan ana odadan oluşan kaya mezarının içerisinde, duvar kenarları boyunca sekiz adet arcosolium bulunmaktadır. Duvarlarını, kemerlerini ve tonoz/kubbe biçimli tavanını kaplayan freskleri günümüze kadar sağlam kalabilmeyi başarmıştır. Bu duvar resimlerindeki asma dalları ve yaprakları, üzüm salkımları, çiçekler, girlandlar, çelenkler gibi bitkisel kompozisyonlar, benzer örneklerden de anlaşılabileceği gibi, döneminin ölüm / ölüm sonrası inanışlarıyla ilgilidir. 2021 kazı ve restorasyon sezonu içerisinde temizlik ve onarımları yapılan KD1/17 numaralı kaya mezarı, nekropolün freskolu diğer kaya mezarlarında olduğu gibi Blaundos’un Geç Roma Dönemi’ndeki özgün fresko işçiliği ve etkileşimde olduğu merkezlerle olası ilişkileri hakkında fikir vermesi açısından da önemlidir

Blaundos Rock-Cut Tomb KD1/17 (Tomb with Vine) and Frescoes: An Iconographic and Stylistic Analysis

Öz

There are hundreds of rock tombs lined up side by side on the steep slopes of the deep valleys around the hill where the central buildings of the Blaundos are located. The variety of façade arrangements, plans and interior fittings of the rock-cut tombs that have been identified so far provide important information about both the urban landscape and the funerary customs of the era. On the other hand, the wall paintings in the rock tombs of this extensive necropolis, which has witnessed at least a few centuries of the city’s history, are of an unprecedented quantity and quality. All of these have been documented and their frescoes have been repaired. Especially the wall paintings of the rock tombs on the upper terraces of the Northeast Necropolis area have survived relatively intact. One such example is the rock tomb catalogued as KD1/17 (Tomb with Vine). There are eight arcosolium along the edges of the walls inside the rock tomb, which consists of an anterior chamber and the main chamber lying just behind it. The frescoes that adorn the walls, arches, and vaulted ceiling of the tomb have remained intact until the present day. The floral compositions such as vine branches and leaves, bunches of grapes, flowers, garlands and wreaths in these wall paintings are related to the death/after death beliefs of the period, as can be understood from similar examples. Rock tomb KD1/17, which was cleaned and preserved during the 2021 excavation and restoration season, is important in terms of providing an idea about Blaundos’ original fresco workmanship during the Late Roman Period and its possible relations with the centers it interacted with, as are the other frescoed rock tombs of the necropolis.
