Investigation of Biology Teachers 'Bioethic Values in Terms of Different Variables*

Öz

The purpose of this research; to determine the bioethical value levels of secondary school biology teachers and to examine the bioethical value level according to the variables of gender and educational status. The sample of this study conducted with the correlational survey model consists of 71 biology teachers working in secondary education. The research data were collected with the Personal Information Form and the Bioethical Value Scale. In the analysis of the data; Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used for normality of the distribution, mean and standard deviation to determine the level of bioethical value, independent groups t test and Mann Whitney U test to examine the level of bioethical value in terms of different variables. In the findings; It was determined that the bioethical value level of secondary school biology teachers was X ̅=2.60, tthat the bioethical value level of male teachers was significantly higher than that of female teachers, and that the bioethical value level of graduate teachers and postgraduate teachers did not differ. According to this; It was concluded that the bioethical value level of secondary school biology teachers was at a medium level, the level of bioethical value changed according to gender, but did not change according to undergraduate / graduate education. It is recommended to conduct studies with different study groups, using different variables and enriched with qualitative data in order to increase the level of bioethical value.

Biyoloji Öğretmenlerinin Biyoetik Değerlerinin Farklı Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmada amaç; ortaöğretim biyoloji öğretmenlerinin biyoetik değer düzeylerini belirlemek ve biyoetik değer düzeyini cinsiyet ve eğitim durumu değişkenlerine göre irdelemektir. İlişkisel tarama modeliyle yürütülen bu çalışmanın örneklemini ortaöğretimde görev yapan 71 biyoloji öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve Biyoetik Değer Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde; dağılımın normalliği için kolmogorov smirnov testi, biyoetik değer düzeyini belirlemek için ortalama ve standart sapma, biyoetik değer düzeyini farklı değişkenler açısından irdelemek için de bağımsız gruplar t testi ve mann whitney u testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgularda; ortaöğretim biyoloji öğretmenlerinin biyoetik değer düzeyinin X ̅ =2.60 olduğu, erkek öğretmenlerin biyoetik değer düzeyinin kadın öğretmenlerden anlamlı derece yüksek düzeyde olduğu, lisans mezunu öğretmenlerle yüksek lisans mezunu öğretmenlerin biyoetik değer düzeyinin farklılaşmadığı saptanmıştır. Buna göre; ortaöğretim biyoloji öğretmenlerinin biyoetik değer düzeyinin orta seviyede olduğu, biyoetik değer düzeyinin cinsiyete göre değiştiği, lisans/yüksek lisans eğitimine göre ise değişmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Biyoetik değer düzeyini arttırmaya yönelik, farklı çalışma gruplarıyla, farklı değişkenler kullanılarak ve nitel verilerle zenginleştirilmiş çalışmalar yapılması önerilmektedir.
