Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin LGBTİ Bireylere Yönelik Tutumlarının Yordayıcıları: Türkiye’den Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

Öz

Giriş: Cinsiyet; bireyin kadın ya da erkek olarak gösterdiği genetik, fizyolojik ve biyolojik özellikleri olarak tanımlanırken; cinsel yönelim ise duygusal ve cinsel bir çekimdir olarak ifade edilir. Hemşireler mesleği gereği toplumda farklı cinsel yönelimi olan bireylere sıklıkla hizmet sunmaktadır.
Amaç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin farklı yönelimlere sahip bireylere yönelik tutumlarının yordayıcılarının belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir.
Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı kesitsel tipte yapılan bu araştırma, Akdeniz Bölgesindeki bir üniversitenin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 644 hemşirelik öğrencisi ile Ekim- Kasım 2023 tarihleri arasında yürütülmüştür. Veriler, “Kişisel Anket Formu” ve “LGBTİ (Lezbiyen, Gey, Biseksüel, Transgender, İnterseks) Bireylere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalamasının 20.56 ±2.05, %79.3’ünün kadın, %79,7’sinin cinsel yöneliminin heteroseksüel, 81.7’sinin en uzun yerleşim yerinin Akdeniz bölgesi ve %40.1’inin LGBTİ birey olmanın kişisel tercihe bağlı olduğunu ifade ettiği görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin ölçek toplam puan ortalamalarının 2,32±0.97 olduğu ve LGBTİ bireylere yönelik olumlu tutum sergiledikleri belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada kurulan modele göre; kadın öğrencilerin cinsel yönelim, LGBTİ’li arkadaşa sahip olma, LGBTİ bireylere bakım verme isteği ve LGBTİ’nin ne olduğuna yönelik görüşleri LGBTİ tutumlarını belirlemede önemli değişkenlerdir. Erkek öğrencilerin ise; LGBTİ’li arkadaşa sahip olma, ekonomik düzey, LGBTİ bireylere bakım verme isteği ve LGBTİ’nin ne olduğuna yönelik görüşleri de LGBTİ tutumlarını belirlemektedir (p<0.005).
Sonuç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin LGBTİ bireylere yönelik olumlu tutumlarının olduğu belirlenmiş olup, erkek öğrencilerin kadın öğrencilere göre tutumlarının daha olumsuz olduğu saptanmıştır.
