THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION STRATEGIES ON CIRCULAR ECONOMIC PRACTICES

Öz

In recent years, the global threats of climate change, natural disasters, depletion of natural resources, and environmental problems caused by industrial activities, as well as increasing waste, have been defined as the negative effects of the linear economy approach based on take-use-dispose processes. The majority of these processes began with the Industrial Revolution. Circular economy practices developed to minimize these negative consequences and to ensure efficient use of resources by reducing uncontrolled consumption are gaining global attention.
This study examines the environmental, economic, and social impacts of digital transformation strategies on circular economy practices, using qualitative research methods. Interviews were conducted with 20 enterprises determined by criterion sampling. The data were analyzed with MAXQDA 24 program. The results of the analysis indicated that digital transformation technologies have a positive effect on circular economy practices. The positive impacts of these technologies include facilitating the effects of circular economy practices, reducing adverse environmental conditions, contributing economically through efficient use of resources and energy, and having positive social impacts such as reduced workload, increased employee satisfaction, and increased awareness.

DİJİTAL DÖNÜŞÜM STRATEJİLERİNİN DÖNGÜSEL EKONOMİ UYGULAMALARINA ETKİSİ

Öz

Son yıllarda küresel ölçekte tehdit olarak karşımıza çıkan iklim değişikliği, doğal afetler, doğal kaynakların azalması, endüstriyel faaliyetlerle birlikte artan atıkların oluşturduğu geri dönüşü mümkün olmayan çevre sorunları gibi olumsuz etkiler, sanayi devrimiyle başlayan ve al-kullan-at süreçlerine dayanan doğrusal ekonomi yaklaşımının olumsuz etkileri olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Söz konusu bu olumsuz sonuçları en aza indirgemek, kontrolsüz tüketimi azaltarak kaynakların verimli kullanılmasını sağlamak amacıyla geliştirilen döngüsel ekonomi uygulamaları her geçen gün küresel ölçekte daha fazla ilgi görmektedir.
Bu çalışma, dijital dönüşüm stratejilerinin döngüsel ekonomi uygulamaları üzerinde çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan etkilerinin incelenerek değerlendirilmesini konu almaktadır. Çalışmada, öncelikle dijital dönüşüm teknolojilerinin ve döngüsel ekonominin değerlendirilmesi için literatür araştırması gerçekleştirilerek teorik çerçeve oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Ölçüt örneklem ile belirlenen 20 işletme ile mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler MAXQDA 24 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucu elde edilen bulgulara göre döngüsel ekonomi uygulamaları üzerinde dijital dönüşüm teknolojilerinin kolaylaştırıcı etkileri olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunlar arasında olumsuz çevre koşullarını azaltması, kaynakların ve enerjinin verimli kullanımıyla ekonomik açıdan sağladığı katkı, iş yükünü azaltması, çalışan memnuniyeti ve farkındalığını attırması ve sosyal açıdan olumlu etkiler sayılabilir.
