Post-Keynesian Backward-Bending Phillips Curve: A Study for The Turkish Economy

Yıl 2023, Cilt: 8 Sayı: 2, 457 - 467, 30.12.2023

Öz

The relationship between inflation and unemployment in economies is identified with the Philips Curve and it is assumed that there is a negative correlation between the two variables. In this study, the Post Keynesian Phillips Curve, which states that the relationship between inflation and unemployment can be positive, and the relationships between inflation and unemployment have been tried to be examined for the Turkish Economy. The method used is the Non-Linear Bounds Test (NARDL) method, which allows us to separate positive and negative relationships. Findings for the period 2014M1: 2023M7 show the existence of negative asymmetric relationships between the two variables in the long term. In line with the findings, it can be said that the Phillips Curve has a negative slope in the long term for the period subject to analysis in the Turkish economy.
