Filistin Bağlamında Mekânsal Adalet ve Kolektif Direnişin Görsel İnşası: Yossi Lemel’in Savaş Karşıtı Afişlerinin Bir Analizi

Öz

Bu araştırma, Filistin bağlamında mekânsal adalet ve kolektif direniş konularını grafik tasarım perspektifinden incelemektedir. Araştırma, İsrailli grafik tasarımcı Yossi Lemel tarafından tasarlanan savaş karşıtı afişlere ilişkin bir vaka çalışması sunmaktadır. Bu afişler, eleştirel bir yorumlama yaklaşımı kullanılarak incelenmektedir. Araştırma, posterlerin siyasi ve sosyal içeriğini ele alan teorik perspektiflerden yararlanmakta ve mekânsal adalet ile mekân soykırımı olarak adlandırılabilecek meseleleri incelemektedir. Filistin temasını işleyen Lemel'in posterleri üzerinde niteliksel bir görsel analiz yapılmıştır. Çalışma, tasarımcının aktarmaya çalıştığı mesajları daha derinlemesine anlamak amacıyla ikonları, metaforları, renkleri, tipografiyi ve mekânın düzenlenme biçimini incelemektedir. Çalışmanın bulguları, Lemel’in Filistin temalı posterlerinde, devam eden çatışmayı, mekânın parçalanmasını ve egemenliğini eleştirmek için tanıdık nesneleri ve doğal motifleri metafor olarak kullandığını ortaya koymaktadır. Posterler şiddeti tasvir etmemekte, ancak izleyiciyi düşünmeye ve yorumlamaya davet eden alternatif bir görsel dil sunmaktadır.

Spatial Justice and the Visual Construction of Collective Resistance in the Palestinian Context: An Analysis of Yossi Lemel’s Anti-War Posters

Öz

This study investigates the issues of spatial justice and collective resistance from the perspective of graphic design in the context of Palestine. It presents a case study of anti-war posters designed by the Israeli graphic designer Yossi Lemel. These posters are interpreted using a critical interpretative approach. The research draws on theoretical perspectives that address the political and social content of the posters and examine the issues of spatial justice and what can be referred to as spaciocide. A qualitative visual analysis was conducted of Lemel’s posters that deal with the theme of Palestine. The study examines the icons, metaphors, colours, typography and the way space is organised in order to gain a deeper insight into the messages the designer is attempting to convey. The findings of the study reveal that in his Palestine-themed posters Lemel employs familiar objects and natural motifs as metaphors to critique the ongoing conflict and the fragmentation and domination of space. The posters do not depict violence, but present alternative visual language that invites the viewer to reflect and interpret.
