Çukurova Bölgesi/Türkiye İçin Yeni Bir Yabancı Ot Türü: Euphorbia hypericifolia L.

Öz

Türkiye, coğrafi konumu ve farklı iklim koşulları nedeniyle oldukça zengin bir bitki biyoçeşitliliğine sahiptir. Bu biyoçeşitlilik içerisinde, istenmeyen alanlarda yetişen, tarım alanlarına dışarıdan gelen, zararı yararından fazla olan yabancı ot türleri de yer almaktadır. Bu türler, tarımsal biyoçeşitliliğin önemli bir bileşeni olup; ana zararlı olarak adlandırdığımız bir bölümü de tarımsal ekosistemlerde ciddi verim kayıplarına yol açarken, yararlı türler ise ekosistemde diğer canlılar için alternatif konukçu veya besin kaynağı olarak hizmet etmekte, aynı zamanda ekolojik işlevlere katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu yabancı ot türlerinden bir bölümünün ait olduğu Euphorbiaceae familyası, dünya genelinde yayılış gösteren kozmopolit bir bitki familyası olup, tıbbi ve ekonomik açıdan önemli türleri de içermektedir. Bu familyanın üyeleri genellikle otsu, odunsu veya sukkulent formda olup süt salgılı, hoş olmayan kokulu, acımsı tada sahip ve toksik özellikler gösteren bitkiler olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Euphorbiaceae familyası içerisinde yer alan Euphorbia cinsi ise, tür sayısı bakımından en zengin ve yayılış alanı en geniş olan cinslerden biridir. Çukurova Bölgesi de Euphorbia cinsine ait farklı türleri barındırmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında Kantaron Yapraklı Sütleğen (Euphorbia hypericifolia L.), bölgede yeni bir yabancı ot türü olarak belirlenmiştir. Adı geçen bitki, yabancı orjinli bir türdür. Bu yabancı ot türüne ait örnekler, Adana ili Sarıçam ilçesinden toplanmıştır. Bölgede tarım alanlarında bulunan E. nutans ile E. hypericifolia morfolojik olarak büyük benzerlik göstermekte olup, iki türün birbirinden ayrımı oldukça zordur. Türün tanımı, morfolojik özellikleri, bulunduğu yer ve görselleri bu çalışmada ayrıntılı olarak verilmiştir. Bu çalışma, bölgedeki yabancı ot flora bilgisine katkı sağlamakta ve gelecekte yapılacak taksonomik, ekolojik ve yabancı ot mücadelesi çalışmalarına temel veri oluşturmaktadır.

A New Weed Species for the Çukurova Region/Türkiye: Euphorbia hypericifolia L.

Öz

Türkiye has an extremely rich plant biodiversity due to its geographical location and diverse climatic conditions. This biodiversity also includes weed species that grow in undesirable places and are introduced to agricultural fields from outside, causing more harm than benefit. These species are an important component of agricultural biodiversity; while some, which we call main harmful, cause significant yield losses in agricultural ecosystems, beneficial species serve as alternative hosts or food sources for other organisms in the ecosystem and also contribute to ecological functions. These weed species are part of the family Euphorbiaceae, a cosmopolitan plant family that is distributed worldwide and contains species which are medicinal and economic aspects. Members of this family are generally herbaceous, woody, or succulent, and typically have milky sap, unpleasant smells, bittersweet flavors, and toxicity properties. The genus Euphorbia, which belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae, is one of the richest genera in terms of the number of species and has the wide distribution area. The Çukurova Region also contains various species belonging to the Euphorbia genus. Graceful spurge (Euphorbia hypericifolia L.) was reported as a new weed species for the Çukurova Region within the scope of this study. The plant is a non-native species. Samples of this weed species were collected from Sarıçam district in Adana province. E. nutans and E. hypericifolia, which are both found in agricultural areas in the region, have a great morphological similarity that makes it difficult to distinguish them. The description of the species, its morphological features, location, and images is detailed in this study. This study contributes to the knowledge of the weed flora in the region and provides fundamental data for future taxonomic, ecological, and weed management studies.
