Bir Süt Sığırcılığı İşletmesinde Ayıklama Nedenlerinin Saptanması

Öz

Süt sığırcılığında sığırların sürüde kalma süresi hastalık, form bozukluğu, verim düşüklüğü ve fertilite gibi birçok faktör tarafından etkilenmektedir. Ayıklama belirli bir karakter bakımından damızlığa ayrılmış hayvanların daha sonra çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı sürüden uzaklaşmasıdır. Sağlıklı ve fertil ineklerin düşük verimden dolayı sürüden çıkartılması istemli ayıklama olarak tanımlanırken; hastalık, yaralanma, üreme sorunları ya da ölüm nedeni ile verimli ve kar edilen ineklerin sürüden çıkartılması ise istemsiz ayıklama olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, 1500 baş kapasiteli modern süt sığırcılığı işletmesinde bulunan Holştayn ırkı sığırların ayıklama sebepleri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla 1500 baş hayvan hayvana ait 2014-2017 yılları arasında ayıklamaya ilişkin veriler değerlendirilmiştir. Ayıklamaya neden olan faktörler; hastalıklar, üreme, solunum, sindirim, genel durum, ölüm ve isteğe bağlı olacak şekilde sınıflandırılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Ayıklama nedenlerine ilişkin özelliklere ait ortalamalar farklılığın belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılan Duncan Çoklu Karşılaştırma testine göre; genel durum, ölüm ve isteğe bağlı ayıklamaya tabi tutulan gurupların diğer gruplardan farklı oldukları belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Araştırmada; sürüde kalma süresi bakımından ayıklama nedenleri incelendiğinde; hastalıklar, üreme, solunum, sindirim, genel durum ve isteğe bağlı özellikler arasında istatistik fark olduğu gözlenmiştir (p<0.01), sürüde kalma süresi bakımından en yüksek ortalamanın üreme (2010±72) ve en düşük ortalamanın ölüm (1468±124) nedeniyle ayıklamaya ait olduğu gözlenmiştir. İnek oluş yaşı bakımından ayıklama nedenleri incelendiğinde; özellikler arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılık olmadığı gözlenmiştir (p>0.05). İnek oluş yaşı bakımından en yüksek ortalamanın solunum (793±9) ve en düşük ortalamanın hastalıklar (771±5) nedeniyle ayıklamaya ait olduğu gözlenmiştir. İstatistik fark olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir (p>0.05). Sağmal olarak geçirdiği gün sayısı bakımından nedenleri incelendiğinde; hastalıklar, üreme, solunum, sindirim, genel durum ve isteğe bağlı özellikler arasında istatistik fark olduğu gözlemlenmiştir (p<0.01). Sağmal olarak geçirdiği gün sayısı bakımından en yüksek solunum (1312±95) ve en düşük ortalamanın genel durum (745±151) nedeniyle ayıklamaya ait olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Hayvancılık alanındaki önemli konulardan birisi hayvanların ayıklama işleminin doğru ve bilinçli bir şekilde yapılması ve bununla doğrudan ilişkili olarak sürü yönetimi başarısıdır. Sürünün verim kalitesini düşürmeden, hayvanlardan olabildiğince uzun süre yararlanmak, sürü yenileme maliyetini düşürmektedir, dolayısı ile sürü ömrünün uzunluğu işletme karlılığını olumlu anlamda etkilemektedir.

Determination of The Causes of Culling In Dairy Cattle Farm

Öz

The length of time cattle remain in the herd is affected by many factors such as disease, malformations, decreased productivity, and fertility. Scalping is the removal of animals selected for breeding based on a specific trait, later due to various reasons. The removal of healthy and fertile cows due to low productivity is defined as voluntary culling, while the removal of productive and profitable cows due to disease, injury, reproductive problems, or death is defined as involuntary culling in dairy farms. This study investigated the reasons for culling Holstein cattle in a modern dairy farm with a capacity of 1500 head between 2014 and 2017, focusing on specific diseases. These reasons included diseases, reproductive issues, respiratory problems, digestive issues, general condition, mortality, and voluntary culling. The diseases were evaluated using the Duncan Multiple Comparison model. When examining the reasons for culling in terms of herd duration, statistically significant differences were observed between diseases, reproductive issues, respiratory problems, digestive issues, general condition, and voluntary culling (p<0.01). The highest average was observed for culling due to reproductive issues (2010±72), and the lowest average was observed for culling due to mortality (1468±124). According to the Duncan Multiple Comparison test, which was conducted to determine the differences in averages for culling reasons, groups subjected to culling due to general condition, mortality, and voluntary culling differed from other groups (p<0.05). When the reasons for culling were examined in terms of cow age, no statistically significant difference was observed among the characteristics (p>0.05). The highest average for culling due to respiratory issues (793±9) and the lowest average for diseases (771±5) were observed. No statistically significant difference was observed (p>0.05). When the reasons for culling were examined in terms of the number of days spent in milking, statistically significant differences were observed among diseases, reproduction, respiratory issues, digestion, general condition, and voluntary culling characteristics (p<0.01). The highest average for culling due to respiratory issues (1312±95) and the lowest average for general condition (745±151) were observed. According to the Duncan Comparison Test, which was conducted to determine the differences in the averages of the characteristics related to the reasons for culling, it was determined that the groups subjected to general condition, death, and voluntary culling differed from the other groups (p<0.05). Different lactation stages where culling could occur were considered together. Parity, calving, seasonal factors, and herd size were evaluated as variables in each model. Parity has a significant influence on culling. The effects of diseases vary depending on the occurrence of the disease and whether culling occurs. Mastitis, udder problems, and weakness have decisive effects throughout lactation. Diagnoses are generally observed to influence the decision to eliminate these conditions more often than not.
