AIMS

The Journal of Spectroscopy and Molecular Sciences (JSMS) is an international and interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the publication of cutting-edge research in all areas of spectroscopy and molecular sciences and provides an advanced scientific forum. Through its online service by DergiPark, JSMS aims to reach worldwide readership. Our main goal is to provide rigorous peer-review process, enable rapid publication of research, achieve high impact among the world-wide journals and inspire the scientific community. We strongly encourage researchers to publish their experimental, theoretical, and computational results particularly in spectroscopy and molecular sciences in our journal. Submitted papers could be Research Article, Report, Review, and Letter. To be published in JSMS, a paper should meet four general criteria:

  • Strong evidence for its conclusions. 
  • Novelty.
  • Extreme importance to scientists in the specific field.
  • Interesting to researchers in other related disciplines.

In general, there should be an apparent reason why the work merits the visibility of publication in JSMS. Our journal seeks to publish those papers that are most influential in their fields or accross fields and that will significantly advance scientific understanding. JSMS is published twice in a year. There is no restriction on the length of the papers or the number of electronic multimedia and supplementary files. For all articles, the full experimental details must be provided so that the reults can be reproduced.

JSMS generally spans the publications in Physics, Astrophysics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, all fields of related to spectroscopy and molecular sciences, also in the fields (not limited to) below:

2. Abstract

150-400 words. Please do not put P-value, abbreviations or any reference. PLEASE NOTE THAT, abstracts that will be submitted to JSMS should be in English and Turkish languages.

3. Keywords

5-6 keywords.

4. Manuscript

Manuscripts should be submitted in MS-Word in .docx format with the Times New Roman (size 12 pt) font with single spacing.

The manuscript should have: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgement (if any).

Scientific names should be italic. Pages should be numbered (centered in the middle at the bottom of the page). All lines should be numbered automatically using the MS-Word.

6. Tables

Tables should be numbered and cited in the text, for example: Table 1. All tables should have a caption above the table ending to a “.”. All tables should be inserted in manuscript where they belong in main text. The authors can indicate the insertion place of tables in the text by putting the table's number in the bracket, for example [Table 1].

Tables must be self-explanatory, contain synthesized data, and not exceed A4 size. Data shown on graphs should not be repeated in tables and vice versa.

 7. Graphs and Illustration

All graphs and illustrations should have a caption below the table ending to a “.”

Graphs and illustrations should be cited fully in the text, for example: (Figure 1).

The font of the graphs or any text on the illustrations should be Times New Roman. Size of the text on graphs and illustrations should be 10 pt.

Submitted manuscripts should have tables, graphs and illustrations shoud be inserted in the text. If illustrations are going to be submitted separately, prepare them with the following format (with a resolution no less than 300 dpi) and determine their locations in the paper:

For vector graphics, EPS

For halftones, TIFF format.

The resolution of photographs must be 300 dpi at print size (original extension: jpg or tif).

Line art pictures (tif extension) must be done electronically (not scanned) and their resolution must be 600 dpi at print size.

The authors can indicate the insertion place of figures in the text by putting the figures' number in the bracket, for example [Figure 1].

Colour illustrations will be published free of charge only in the electronic version of the journal (pdf files).

 8. Copyright

With submitting a paper to the Journal of Spectroscopy and Molecular Sciences (JSMS) you accept to transfer automatically the copyright to the JSMS. Submitting a paper to the JSMS means that all authors have seen the paper and agree with the final form of the submitted paper and their positions in the author list. No part of the submitted paper should be published before.

 9. Suggestion of potential reviewers

Authors are encouraged to suggest three potential reviewers for their paper.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Confirm that the contents of the manuscript has been submitted solely to this journal and is not published, in press, or submitted elsewhere (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

2. Confirm that the submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.

3. Confirm that the text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

4. Confirm that the contact details of at least three potential reviewers (Name, affiliation and email address) were prepared.

5. Confirm that all the research meets the ethical guidelines, including adherence to the legal requirements of the study country. Meanwhile, the contents of this manuscript have not been copyrighted or published previously.

6. Confirm that all authors of the paper have read and approved the final version submitted.

7. Authors should also recommend three reviewers to review their submissions related to their fields. Recommended reviewers should be from abroad unless they are "only experts in their fields" and only available in Turkey.

PLAGIARISM POLICY & EVALUATION PROCESS AND PRINCIPLES

The articles sent to be published are expected to comply with the spelling, punctuational and general rules of the language they’re written in, as well as the spelling rules of the journal. The articles sent to the journal are first analyzed and approved by the editor and the publication board, within the framework of the relevant criteria, and then scanned for “plagiarism” by means of some softwares such as the iThenticate which is currently being used. In consequence of the scanning of the main text in the article, the rate of similiarity to another texts without references shall not pass 15%, with the exclusion of the bibliography and the references. It could be asked the writer to improve the situation for the ratios between 10% and 30%. However, the article is rejected in case of similarities over 30% without references. In case of the similarity rate is more than 35%, even though references are shown, the article can be rejected by evaluating that the study is weak in terms of "originality" and "contribution to the field".

In addition, the articles written on any materials from an official museum, library, archive or excavation, or that include an image of original work / situation / excavation area from those mantioned officals, must have a publication permission certificate or correspondence received from the relevant institution. During the submition process to the Journal, the certificate or correspondence copy must be uploaded as an addition to the article document. Failure to submit such a document could be the reason for the refusal of the study. In case of the positive result of this “pre-review” phase; the article is sent to two reviewers in compliance with the “Double blind peer review” principle. In case of the contrast views of the two reviewers, a third reviewer is asked for opinion. (The reviewers are designated in accordance with the area of specialization, among the names listed under the title of Academic Advisory Board of the journal. In case of having an article with a specific subject out of the specialty of the scientists on the list, the relevant scientists are consulted, and the list is updated by adding the names of these reviewers to the board list.) Accepting the articles to the publication programme is possible with at least two “positive reports” from the related scientific advisors/reviewers. In case of the equality of positive or negative reports of the reviewers, or in case of any hesitation, the decisions of the Editor and the Editorial Board could determine the result. During the mentioned assesment process, the writer could be asked to make the necessary revisions and corrections.

The JSMS is an open-access journal and does not charge any publication or article processing fee.

Ankara Üniversitesi (2000-2013), Gazi Üniversitesi (2013-2018) ve 2018 yılından itibaren de Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli Üniversitesi'nde öğretim üyesi olarak hizmet vermekte, Tarihi Malzeme Araştırma ve Koruma Laboratuvarı (MAKLAB) çalışmalarını yürütmektedir.
Akademik çalışmaları arkeolojik malzeme (kil/toprak, taş/kayaç, seramik, harç/sıva/duvar resmi, cam ve pigment/boya) analizleri ve karakterizasyonu üzerinedir. 1995 yılından itibaren ulusal (31 kazı ve 5 yüzey araştırması) ve uluslararası (Afganistan, Arnavutluk, Cezayir, Kazakistan, Makedonya, Mısır, Pakistan, Romanya, Sırbistan, Suriye ve Türkmenistan) restorasyon ve konservasyon projelerinde araştırmacı/arkeometrist ya da proje ekip üyesi olarak görev almıştır. 1200’ün üzerinde ulusal/uluslararası tarihi anıt ve alanlara ait Rölöve Restitüsyon ve Restorasyon Projesi’nde malzeme analizi çalışmalarında bulunmuştur. Ayrıca “müze eğitimi” alanında da uzmanlaşmış, çeşitli müze ve kurum/kuruluşlarla projeler yürütmüştür.
