Öz

Today, the most important problem faced by developing countries in increasing their production levels is the lack of domestic savings. Countries try to attract foreign direct investments in order to eliminate the capital deficit that arises for this reason. With the opportunities provided by foreign direct investments, the increase in production and consequently in exports has become an important policy target. Empirical studies reveal that foreign direct investments on countries may have an increasing effect on exports. There are a limited number of studies in the literature that examine the effects of foreign direct investments on a sectoral basis. In this context, it is also important to examine the effects of foreign investments on a sectoral basis. In this study, the effects of foreign direct investment on the Turkey’s textile industry has tried to analyse. As a result of our econometric studies, it has been observed that foreign direct investments in the textile industry have an increasing effect on exports. In this sense, it can be stated that direct investments for this production area are in accordance with the development goals.

DOĞRUDAN YABANCI SERMAYE YATIRIMLARININ İHRACATA YÖNELİK VEYA İTHAL İKAMECİ ETKİLERİ - TÜRKİYE TEKSTİL SEKTÖRÜ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Öz

Günümüzde, gelişmekte olan ülkelerin üretim düzeylerini artırmada karşılaştıkları en önemli sorun iç tasarruf yetersizliğidir. Ülkeler, bu yüzden ortaya çıkan sermaye açığını giderebilmek için doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarını çekmeye çalışmaktadırlar. Doğrudan yabancı yatırımların sağladığı olanaklar ile üretim ve buna bağlı olarak ihracatta artışlar yaşanması, önemli bir politika hedefi haline gelmiştir. Yapılan ampirik çalışmalar, ülkeler üzerine gelen doğrudan yabancı yatırımların ihracatı artırıcı yönde etkilerinin olabileceğine ilişkin sonuçlar ortaya koymaktadır. Literatürde doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarının sektör bazında etkilerini inceleyen sınırlı sayıda çalışma mevcuttur. Bu bağlamda gelen yabancı yatırımların sektörel bazda etkilerinin incelenmesi ayrıca önem arzetmektedir. Bu çalışmada, doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarının, Türkiye’nin tekstil sektörü üzerindeki etkileri analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Yaptığımız ekonometrik çalışmaların sonucu olarak, tekstil endüstrisine gelen doğrudan yabancı yatırımların, ihracatı artırıcı etkileri olduğu görülmüştür. Bu anlamda, bu üretim alanı için doğrudan yatırımların, kalkınma hedeflerine uygun bir nitelik taşıdığı ifade edilebilir.
