Değerler ile Toplumsal Cinsiyet Rollerine İlişkin Geleneksel Tutum Arasındaki İlişkide Toplumsal Cinsiyet Kalıpyargılarının Aracı Etkisi

Öz

Bu çalışmada Hofstede'nin Kültürel Boyutlar Kuramında tanımlanan değerler ile toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutum arasındaki ilişkide toplumsal cinsiyet kalıpyargılarının aracı rolünün sınanması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda “Bireysel Kültürel Değerler Ölçeği”, “Toplumsal Cinsiyet Rolleri Tutum Ölçeği” ve “Yetkinlik ve Sevecenlik Kalıpyargısı Ölçümü” araçları kullanılarak 271 üniversite öğrencisinin verileriyle analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek üzere korelasyon analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Değerler ile toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutum arasındaki ilişkide cinsiyet kalıpyargılarının aracılık rolü SPSS 24 programının Process Makro eklentisiyle incelenmiştir. Beklenildiği üzere erillik, güç mesafesi ve toplulukçuluk değerlerinin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutumla güçlü pozitif ilişkiler gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Erillik değerinin benimsenmesi arttıkça kadını yetkinlik kalıpyargısıyla tanımlama azalmıştır ve bu azalmaya bağlı olarak toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutumun benimsenmesi artmıştır. Erkeği sevecenlik kalıpyargısıyla tanımlamanın toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutumun negatif yordayıcısı olması beklenirken, tam tersine erkeğin sevecen tanımlanışı arttıkça geleneksel tutumun arttığı görülmüştür. Buna göre erillik ve toplulukçuluk değerleri arttıkça erkeğin sevecen tanımlanışı artmıştır. Erkeğin sevecen tanımlanması arttıkça ise toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin geleneksel tutumun benimsenmesi artmıştır. Toplulukçuluk düzeyi yüksek olan kültürlerde sevecenlik kalıpyargısının erkeğin statüsüne katkı sağlayan bir unsur olabileceği literatürdeki bilgiler doğrultusunda tartışılmıştır.
