Öz

Coğrafi mekansal verinin doğasında olan karmaşa ve düzensizlik, kullanıcılar tarafından doğru algılanmasını zorlaştırmakta ve görselleştirilmesinin önemini arttırmaktadır. 3B (3 Boyutlu) gösterimler mekansal nesnelerin algılanmasını kolaylaştırmaktadır. 3B kent modelleri farklı amaçlar için birçok disiplin tarafından kullanılmakta ve bu alandaki ihtiyaçlar gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Büyük kent bölgelerin modellenmesi için geliştirilmiş olan yeni yöntemler, veri azaltma, ayrıntı düzeyi (Level of Detail: LoD), akıcı işlem sağlama ve 3B kent modeli ile Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) arasında ilişki kurma özelliklerine sahiptir.Ayrıntı düzeyleri ile karmaşık yapılı ve büyük kapasiteli olan 3B mekansal modellerin iletişimi, paylaşımı ve gösterimi daha hızlı yapılabilmektedir. 3B kent modellemede veri paylaşımını kolaylaştırmak için ilk standartlar CityGML (City Geography Markup Language) modelleme dili kapsamında Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) tarafından yapılmıştır
