Investigation of the Effect of Behavioral Logic Theory on E-Waste Recycling

Yıl 2024, Cilt: 19 Sayı: 76, 433 - 459

Öz

E-waste recycling and management is a matter of increasing concern worldwide due to its adverse effects on the environment and human health. The study aimed to examine the attitudes and intentions of academicians to participate in e-waste recycling within the framework of behavioral logic theory. For this purpose, the data collected by applying a survey to 193 academicians working at Erzurum Technical University in Erzurum province, was collected using SPSS. It was analyzed with the 26.0 package program. Reliability analysis, arithmetic mean and standard deviation analyzes were performed in the research. In addition, the subcategories of behavioral logic theory in the study are; value, reasons and counter-reasons; 8 hypotheses were created to determine its effect on intention and attitude towards e-waste recycling. As a result of the regression analysis, it was seen that 5 of these hypotheses were accepted and 3 of them were rejected (H2, H5, H6). When looking at the results, it can be seen that sufficient awareness has not yet been created in Turkey, the necessary importance is not given and there is a positive attitude and intention towards e-waste recycling, which is not widely used. In addition, ethics committee approval numbered E.88656144-000-2100340542 was received by Atatürk University Social and Human Sciences Ethics Committee on 10.12.2021 for the survey used in this study.
