İMAN VE İNKÂR BAĞLAMINDA FELSEFENİN ROLÜ

Whether from a philosophical point of view or religious, what is essential for human beings is the “search for the truth”. As it points to the difference between the truth and falsehood, it also demonstrates the norms that lets one to differentiate them and shows existence of deviations. This dilemma, in the axis of religious beliefs, leaves the person in a case that will result with belief or disbelief. For instance, faith in the existence of God, as its not a subject of empirical proving, requires making choice in terms of confirmation or disconfirmation and making choice requires reasoning. But choosing, cannot be an inevitable result of sole reasoning. A complete and genuine will is required. The will of the person is required to be realised with respect to his decision, which is open to desires and tendencies. Therefore, formation of the belief world cannot be explained by rationality of philosophical discourse only. That being the case, elucidating believing or disbelieving by philosophies that can be attributed to persons and can be related with personalities seems more understandable than explaining this phenomenon by a generally accepted philosophy -since it’s existence is controversial too- This also helps us to understand different and anomalous positions of so many philosophers and scientists in terms of religious belief, from past to the present.

İster felsefi ister dini açıdan bakılsın, insan için esas olan “hakikati aramak”tır. Bu, hak olan ve hak olmayan ayrımını gösterdiği gibi, aralarında ayrım imkânı veren normlar ve sapmaların varlığını da gösterir. Bu ikilem, dini inanç esasları ekseninde kişiyi, inanç yahut inançsızlık ile neticelenecek bir durumla karşı karşıya bırakır. Örneğin, empirik bir kanıtlanmaya konu olmadığından Tanrı’nın varlığına iman, tasdik ya da tekzip bağlamında bir seçimde bulunmayı, seçimde bulunmak ise düşünmeyi gerektirir. Lakin seçim, salt düşünmenin kaçınılmaz sonucu olamaz. Tam ve gerçek anlamda bir iradeye ihtiyaç vardır. Kişinin kendi arzu ve eğilimlerine açık, karar verme yönündeki iradesinin tayin edici rolünü görmek lazımdır. Bu sebeple kişinin inanç dünyasının biçimlenmesi, sadece felsefî söylemlerin rasyonalitesi ile izah edilemez. Durum böyleyken, inanmayı ya da inanmamayı, genel geçer bir felsefeyle değil  -ki varlığı tartışılır-, kişilere izafe edilebilecek ve kişilikle de ilişkilendirilebilecek felsefelerle izah etmek daha anlaşılır görünmektedir. Bu, geçmişten bugüne, bunca filozof ve bilim adamının dini inanç noktasında farklı, daha açık ifadeyle aykırı tutumlarını anlamaya da imkân verir.
