The issue of going to the aid of someone who is in trouble is a complex phenomenon. While in some cases some people help the victim, in many cases often the victim is totally ignored and nobody cares. The present introductory study examines briefly this issue from the viewpoint of psychology, law, ethics and religion. It concludes that Islam which differs from other religions to a great extent due to its emphasis on the principle of “commanding right and forbidding wrong” might make an interesting and significant contribution to the modern debate on the problem
