Fundamentalism has become both most defining elements of religious mosaic in the modern world and religious, political, socio-cultural phenomenon of twentieth century. According to largely popular stereotypes, sociologically, fundamentalism was related to the outdated values and repsessive code of small-clan; culturally, it manifested an inclination toward the lowbrow and vulgar; intelectually, ıt was characterized by lack of historical conciousness and the inability to engage in critical thinking; theologically, ıt was indentified by literalism, primitivism, legalism and tribalism. Sometimes, it is portrayed as a negative backflash, cultural-lag. But what is furthermore is that fundamentalism is fashionable as a problem for social analysis more than as a form of religious faith and activism, i.e. it is more political than theological. This paper analysis the concept of ‘global fundamentalim’ from theological perspective.
