Even though the term ?folk or volk? is basically referred in Anthropology, we see that most of Islamic disciplines have also made use of it or took it into consideration when laying down their principles. One of its examples can be seen in Islamic Law under the caption of Ijtihad (to make ones outmost effort to infer a new principle or meaning). In this context is discussed the problem of how to handle the common people or imitators in terms of Ijtihad and Mujtahid. In order to clarify the problem in theological context, the terms reason, faith and folk need to be analyzed together. The following paper, by taking Gazzali as a case study, tries to make clear the relation among faith, reason and people or folk/volk in its technical sense.
