Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovasculary Complications

Öz

Diabetes mellitus is a carbonhydrate, lipid and protein metabolism disease defi ned by elevations of fasting or postprandial plasma glucose levels. The prevalence of diabetes is increasing dramatically in the world. Currently, ten millions of people are suffering from Diabetes Mellitus in Turkey. Cardiovascular diseases are the major causes of mortality in patients with diabetes. Recent studies have shown that effective glucose control reduces signifi cantly the macro and the micro complications of Diabetes Mellitus. To prevent the macro and micro complications, glycemic control should be provided by an early and effective therapetic approach
