Building Integrity through Qana’ah: Islamic Strategies to Mitigate Corruption and Consumptive Lifestyles via TSR-Based Governance

This research is based on the paradox of high levels of religious expression, comprehensive regulations, and codes of ethics that have failed to suppress corruption and consumerist lifestyles, even within law enforcement institutions. Therefore, this study aims to analyse how Islamic principles mitigate corruption and consumerism, explain the role of internalisation of qana'ah in building individual integrity, and formulate the implementation of integrity in sharia-based institutions. This study uses a structured narrative review method with narrative-thematic synthesis, based on the Tawhid String Relationship (TSR) framework, and draws on secondary data from scientific literature and relevant institutional documents. The results of the study indicate that qana'ah plays a psychological-spiritual role that suppresses materialism and hedonism, while personal integrity, embodied in self-control, trustworthiness, honesty, and responsibility, needs to be institutionalised through muamalah fiqh, Islamic work ethics, transparency, accountability, sharia compliance, and fraud control. The novelty of the research lies in expanding qana'ah from consumption ethics to serve as a bridge between personal integrity and institutional governance within a single conceptual flow of tauhid–qana'ah–integrity–maslahah.

This study is based exclusively on secondary data obtained from previously published scientific literature and publicly available institutional documents. It does not involve human participants, patients, or experimental interventions, and no identifiable personal data were collected or analyzed. Therefore, formal approval from an ethics committee or institutional review board was not required for this research, and all procedures complied with accepted standards for narrative review studies.
