QTL Analysis Methods

In recent years, quantitative
characters have settled to a quite important place among genetic studies. The
inheritance of these traits is usually achieved by multiple gene expression and
by the additive and interactive effects of these genes. Therefore, the analysis
methods used to understand the genetic basis of quantitative traits may be more
complex than those of qualitative traits. The loci on the chromosome at which the
genes controlling the genetic architecture of the quantitative traits are
located are called the quantitative trait loci (QTL). There are different
methods for detecting and analyzing the presence of these loci. In addition, it
is possible to map the QTLs with the help of the molecular markers as a
developing method thanks to today's technology. In this review, the methods of
diagnosing QTL and mapping studies were analyzed.
