Yaralı Şifacı Olmak Üzerine: Nitel Bir Araştırma

Öz

Bu bildirinin amacı, Carl Gustav Jung’un yaralı şifacı artekitipi hakkında ruh sağlığı uzmanlarının görüşlerini derinlemesine incelemektir. Bunun için çalışmada fenemenolojik desen kullanılmıştır. 13 ruh sağlığı uzmanı ile çevrimiçi platformda nitel görüşmeler düzenlenerek veriler toplanmıştır. Yaralı şifacı arketipi üzerine görüşler üç ana temaya göre kategorize edilmiştir: 1) kavramın romantize edilmesi, 2) empatiyi kolaylaştırması, 3) yarayı dönüştürmek. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları, ruh sağlığı uzmanlarının yaralı şifacı arketipini kişisel ve mesleki yaşamlarında derinlemesine deneyimlediklerini ve bu arketipin, danışmanlık süreçlerindeki empatiyi güçlendiren bir unsur olarak algılandığını ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca, bu arketipin kimi zaman idealize edilmesi ve aşırı romantize edilmesi nedeniyle, sınırların netleştirilmesi ve sağlıklı bir profesyonel tutum geliştirilmesi gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Ruh sağlığı uzmanlarının kendilerini daha yakından tanımalarını destekleyen kişisel gelişim çalışmalarının teşvik edilmesi, yaralı şifacı arketipinin potansiyel risklerine karşı farkındalık geliştirilmesi ve süpervizyon süreçlerinde bu konunun ele alınması önerilmektedir.

On Wounded Healer: A Qualitative Study

Öz

This paper aims to examine the perspectives of mental health professionals on Carl Gustav Jung's wounded healer archetype using an in-depth phenomenological design. For this purpose, qualitative data were collected via online interviews with 13 practicing mental health professionals. The participants’ views on the wounded healer archetype were categorized into three main themes: 1) the romanticization of the concept, 2) the facilitation of empathy, 3) the transformation of personal wounds. The findings indicate that mental health professionals resonate deeply with the wounded healer archetype both personally and professionally. The archetype is widely perceived as an element that strengthens empathy in counseling processes. However, the results also highlight potential risks, particularly the tendency to idealize or overly romanticize the wounded healer, which can blur professional boundaries. The study underscores the importance of promoting self-awareness and encouraging personal development activities among mental health professionals. It further recommends incorporating discussions of the wounded healer archetype into supervision processes, with a focus on establishing healthy professional boundaries and recognizing its potential psychological impact.
