Öz
It is thought that the adults in children’s environment play a certain role, yet among adults
it is particularly the mothers who play a crucial role in children’s game preferences. For this
reason, the current study aims to assess mothers’ views regarding children’s use of digital
games. In this research, qualitative research method was used. The research working group was
composed of mothers, volunteered to participate in research with 5-years-old children that have
been attending private and state-owned kindergartens. In this study, Interviews were adopted
as data collection method, and by employing semi-structured interviews, face to face interviews
were carried out with mothers. The data obtained as a result of the research’s analysis revealed
that the children’s interest, mother’s sparing time for themselves and household chores, using it
with ease, and especially, having fun are among the reasons why digital games are preferred
by children
