Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin İletişim Becerileri ile Çok Boyutlu Liderlik Yönelimleri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, spor bilimleri fakültesine kayıtlı öğrenciler arasında iletişim becerileri ve liderlik yönelimleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Nicel metodolojik bir yaklaşım kullanan ilişkisel bir anket tasarımı kullanılmıştır. Örneklem, spor bilimleri bölümlerinden 303 lisans öğrencisinden oluşmuştur. Veriler, İletişim Becerileri Ölçeği ve Çok Boyutlu Liderlik Yönelimleri Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veri analizi, tanımlayıcı istatistikler, Pearson korelasyonu, bağımsız örneklem t-testleri, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve hiyerarşik regresyon modellemesini içermiştir. Sonuçlar, katılımcıların hem iletişim becerileri (M = 4,24 ± 0,56) hem de liderlik yönelimleri (M = 4,09 ± 0,56) açısından yüksek seviyeler sergilediğini göstermiştir. Ayrıca bu iki değişken arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı pozitif bir korelasyon (r = 0,66, p < 0,01) tespit edilmiştir. Hiyerarşik regresyon analizi, iletişim becerilerinin liderlik yönelimlerinin en güçlü belirleyicisi olduğunu ortaya koydu (β = .65, p < .001), model toplam varyansın %46'sını açıklıyordu (R² = .46). Ek olarak aktif olarak spor yapan öğrencilerin liderlik yönelimlerinin anlamlı derecede daha yüksek olduğu görüldü (t = 3.74, p < .001), hem iletişim becerileri hem de liderlik yönelimleri yaşla birlikte artma eğilimindeydi (p < .05). Genel düzeyde anlamlı bir cinsiyet farkı bulunmamasına rağmen (p > .05), kadın öğrenciler iletişim becerilerinin bazı alt boyutlarında daha yüksek puan aldı. Bireysel sporlara katılan öğrenciler de daha yüksek iletişim becerileri sergiledi (t = 2.02, p < .05). Bu çalışma, spor bilimleri eğitimi bağlamında iletişim yeterliliğini liderlik yönelimlerinin temel bir belirleyicisi ve göstergesi olarak tanımlayarak, sporla ilgili alanlarda öğrenci gelişimi ve mesleki yeterlilikler literatürüne katkıda bulunmaktadır. Sonuç olarak; iletişim becerileri liderlik yönelimleriyle güçlü bir şekilde ilişkilidir ve spor bilimleri öğrencilerinin bu becerilerin geliştirilmesini desteklemek, gelecekteki mesleki yeterliliklerine katkıda bulunabilir.

An Investigation of the Relationship Between Communication Skills and Multidimensional Leadership Orientations among Sport Sciences Students

Öz

This investigation focused primarily on exploring how communication skills are associated with leadership orientations among students studying at a faculty of sport sciences. A relational survey design employing a quantitative methodological approach was used. The sample consisted of 303 undergraduate students from sport sciences departments. Data were collected using the Communication Skills Scale and the Multidimensional Leadership Orientations Scale. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and hierarchical regression modelling. Results indicated that the participants exhibited high levels of both communication skills (M = 4.24 ± 0.56) and leadership orientations (M = 4.09 ± 0.56). Furthermore, a statistically significant positive correlation was identified between these two variables (r = .66, p < .01). Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that communication skills emerged as the strongest predictor of leadership orientations (β = .65, p < .001), with the model accounting for 46% of the total variance (R² = .46). In addition, students who actively engaged in sports demonstrated significantly higher leadership orientations (t = 3.74, p < .001), while both communication skills and leadership orientations tended to increase with age (p < .05). Although no significant gender differences were found at the overall level (p > .05), female students scored higher in certain sub-dimensions of communication skills. Students participating in individual sports also demonstrated higher communication skills (t = 2.02, p < .05). By identifying communication competence as a key correlate and predictor of leadership orientations within the context of sport sciences education, this study contributes to the literature on student development and professional competencies in sport-related fields. In conclusion, communication skills are strongly associated with leadership orientations, and supporting the development of these skills among sport sciences students may contribute to their future professional competencies.
