Considered for Elderly and Handicapped People Concerning Tourism

It is understood that tourism is a great power in economy and international relations. However, tourism is a service sector that works in close relation to physical environmental conditions
Our country, being the focal point for health tourism, eco-tourism and cultural tourism, is one of
the country which has the potential for tourism. Deficiencies in physical environmental
conditions such as the scarcity of accommodations, the inadequacy of designing interior and
exterior places, especially designs that are not appropriate for the elderly and the handicapped
mean that the potential is not being effectively exploited. It is essential to provide sufficient
physical environmental conditions to achieve a portion of the increase in the population of
tourists that is expected due to the statistics and the targets of present tourisim policy.
In this study, architectural design principles for interior and exterior parts of hotel
accommodations will be examined in detail to provide comfortable conditions for people of 65
plus who represent a significant percentage of the tourist profile expected.
Turizme Yönelik Olarak İç ve Dış Mekanlarda Yaşlı ve Bedensel Engelliler İçin Düşünülmesi Gereken Mimari Tasarım İlkeleri
Öz
Doğal ve kültürel kaynaklar açısından zengin olan ülkemizde, turizmin ekonomi ve uluslararası ilişkilerde önemli bir güç olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Hem turizm sektörünün hem de ülke yöneticilerinin bu konuya yaklaşımları, olumlu adımların atılmasında önemli katkılar sağlamaktadır. Ancak turizm, fiziksel çevre şartları ile de çok sıkı ilişki içinde olan bir hizmet sektörüdür. Sağlık turizmi, eko turizm ve kültür turizmi açısından bir odak konumunda bulunan ülkemiz turizm potansiyeline sahip ülkelerden biridir. Konaklama tesislerinin sayısal azlığı, iç ve dış mekan tasarımındaki yetersizlikler; özellikle yaşlı ve engelli konforuna uygun olmayan tasarımlar gibi eksik fiziksel çevre şartları, bu potansiyelinden yeteri kadar yararlanmasına engel olmaktadır. İstatistikler ve mevcut turizm politikasındaki hedefler doğrultusunda beklenen turist sayısındaki artıştan payını alabilmesi için, yeterli fiziksel çevre koşulları sağlanmalıdır. Bu çalışmada; gelecek turist profili içinde yüksek dilime sahip 65 yaş üzeri kişilere ve bedensel engellilere yönelik konfor koşullarını yerine getirebilmek için, dış mekanlarda ve konaklama tesislerindeki mimari tasarım ilkeleri irdelenecektir.
