The aim of this study is to determine the variations between localities by analyzing the otolith morphometry, otolith morphometrics-fish length relationships and otolith shape indices of Cyprinus carpio samples obtained from Altınkaya Dam Lake (ABG) and Bafra Fish Lakes (BBG) in Samsun Province. A total of 109 (Altınkaya Dam Lake (N=59) and Bafra Fish Lakes (N=50)) individuals In the, were evaluated in the analyses. In order to determine the otolith characteristics for both localities, the otolith length (OL), otolith height (OH), otolith area (OA), otolith perimeter (OP) and otolith weight (OW) parameters of the asteriscus were measured, and relationships between the total length was determined. According to the results of the regression analysis, the relationships between otolith charachteristics and total length were significantly important (P˂0.001). The relationship between TB-OW (r2>0.633) in the ABG population and TB-OP (r2>0.945) in BBG was determined to be stronger than the other relationships. Form factor, roundness, circularity, rectangularity, ellipticity and aspect ratio indices were calculated separately for ABG and BBG populations. As a result of the analyzes made when we compared the otolith shape indices of ABG and BBG populations; shape factor (P<0.001), roundness (P<0.05) and circularity (P<0.001) measurements were found to be significantly different. However, no difference was found in the measurements of rectangularity, ellipticity and aspect ratio. This is the first study to examine the otolith characteristics of comman carp sampled from Altınkaya Dam Lake and Bafra Fish Lakes.
