Zile, historically known as Anziliya, was a significant cult city during the Hittite Period. Like Zela in antiquity, Anziliya functioned as a center of worship. The presence of the goddess Anzili in the city's name suggests its role as a religious hub. The question of whether the cult of this goddess persisted in Zela after the Hittite Period and whether Anāhitā/Anaïtis in antiquity represents a different form of Anzili was first proposed by S. Alp. However, no further studies have been conducted to explore this idea. This article aims to compare Anzili and Anāhitā/Anaïtis in terms of their attributes and functions, using cuneiform texts as well as ancient and modern sources. By identifying potential similarities between these two goddesses, this study seeks to shed light on their possible connection.
