SİNOP BALATLAR KİLİSESİ YAPI TOPLULUĞU KAZISI: ORTODOKS-HIRİSTİYAN MEZARLARINDAN ÇIKARILAN GEÇ OSMANLI DÖNEMİNE AİT TAKILARIN TEKNİK VE DESEN ÖZELLİKLERİNİN GENEL DEĞERLENDİRMESİ

Öz

Kendisini güzel hissetmek ve etrafına güzel görünmek isteyen insan tarafından, bu ihtiyacın giderilmesine yönelik üretilen takıların tarihsel süreç içerisinde insan hayatında hep var olduğu görülmüştür. Öyle ki gücün, asaletin, estetik zevkin ve inancın sembolü olarak görülen takıların zaman içerisinde kullanımlarında meydana gelen değişimleri, bu alanda başlı başına bir yaratım gerçekleştirilmesini ve bu durumla ilişkili olarak bir sanat kolu meydana getirilmesini sağlamıştır. Bu sanat sahası içerisinde her bir eserin; malzeme, form özellikleri, yapım teknikleri özellikle süslemede kullanılan değerli, yarı değerli taşların, organik, inorganik malzemeler üzerinden tetkikinin yapılması, eserlerin dönemsel değişim ve gelişim süreçlerindeki evriminin belirlenmesini olanaklı hale getirmiştir. Sınır ve kapsamı belli olan her bir detaylı çalışmayla eserin ait olduğu kültürün izleri en net şekliyle tartışılabilmiştir. Bu araştırmada, Prof. Dr. Gülgün Köroğlu’nun başkanlığında 2010 yılından beri sürdü-rülen Sinop Balatlar Kilisesi Yapı Topluluğu Kazısında mezarlık alanında, mezar buluntusu olarak ele geçen takıların ve bu grupta kullanılan diğer aksesuarların genel bir değerlendirmeyle tanıtılması amaçlanmıştır. Dönemin dinsel, kültürel ve sanatsal zevkini yansıtan malzeme gruplarının teknik ve desen özelliklerinden hareket edile-rek yapılan inceleme ve değerlendirmeyle geç XVII-XX. yüzyıl tarihleri arasında, Geç Osmanlı Dönemi’nde yaşayan Ortodoks-Hıristiyan halkın yaşam biçimlerinin takı zevki, takılara yüklenen anlam ve ölümün algılanışı hususunda belli çözümle-meler yapılması ve konuyla ilgili genel bir perspektif yaratılması hedeflenmiştir.

EXCAVATION OF SINOP BALATLAR CHURCH BUILDING COMPLEX:AN EXAMINATION OF TECHNICAL FEATURES AND PATTERN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JEWELLERY FROM THE ORTHODOX-CHRISTIAN TOMBS IN THE LATE OTTOMAN PERIOD

Öz

People have always used jewellery for aesthetic purposes. In history, surveys to date reveal that jewellery is a recurrent symbol: a sign of power, nobility, courtly aesthetic, and belief. Therefore, jewellery has appeared as a significant material or object used in the arts and jewellery making has developed to serve the above purposes. When we examine the pieces in terms of their material and technique, they show some specific characteristics. The examination of materials reveals formal elements and various construction techniques. It is seen that particularly precious and semi-precious stones used in decoration. Hence, organic and inorganic materials made it possible to determine the evolution of the works regarding the change and development of jewellery making. This research aims to reveal and discuss the findings of Sinop Balatlar Church Building Community Excavation. It has been carried out since 2010 under the presidency of Gülgün Köroğlu. The examination of the jewellery works aims to clarify the traces of the culture to which each piece belongs. The study introduces the jewellery pieces and other accessories found in graves. The study examines them concerning their technical features, formal characteristics and material. Accordingly, it classifies them regarding the period's religious, cultural and artistic taste in the late XVII-XX. It aims to make specific analyses on the taste of jewellery, the meaning attributed to jewellery and the perception of death in the Orthodox-Christian community in the Late Ottoman Period, and create a perspective on the subject.
