Evliyâ Çelebi’nin İzinde, Bir Muhaşşînin Peşinde: Molla Muhyiddîn el-Cezerî’nin Entelektüel Serüveni

Scholar biographies, which are mostly based on bio-bibliographical works such as tabaqāt and tarājim and therefore written with a second pair of eyes, take on a different dimension when scholars who have works or documents recounting their own life stories are concerned, as they are based on first-hand observations. It is rare and valuable for scholars who are not mentioned in bio-bibliographical works to have left behind this kind of information and documentation. Mulla Muhyiddīn, one of the three scholars mentioned by Evliyā Çelebi during his trip to Cizre, seems to have had such a fate. Unfortunately, this scholar, whom Çelebi mentions as “known to us,” has remained unknown for the reason stated. The fact that he was not included in the biographical works written during his time, and that he was not mentioned in studies focusing on the period and geography in which he lived, has left this well-known scholar in obscurity. Our study will focus on the possibility that the scholar mentioned by Çelebi is the same person, taking into account the works copied by Muhyiddīn al-Jazarī preserved in the Rāgıp Pasha collection. Considering his intense preoccupation with transcription rather than authorship, a narrative will be presented about Jazari's obscure life story, accompanied by his own statements. Our research focuses on the taliqāt/hawāshī (marginal notes) he wrote in the margins of the works he copied, and aims to provide a more detailed description with the book waqfiya (endowment deed) attached to the end of a work. Çoğunlukla biyo-bibliyografik içerikli tabakât ve terâcim eserlerine dayalı ve dolayısıyla ikinci bir göz eşliğinde yazılan ulemâ biyografileri, kendi hayat hikayesine yer veren eser ya da belgelere sahip bilginler söz konusu olduğunda ilk elden ve doğrudan müşahedelerle farklı bir boyut kazanır. Özellikle anılan eserlerde kendisine yer verilmeyen bilginlerin geride bu tarz bilgi ve belge bırakmış olması nadir ve kıymetlidir. Evliyâ Çelebi’nin Cizre seyahati esnasında bahsettiği üç bilginden biri olan Molla Muhyiddin de böyle bir kadere sahip görünmektedir. Çelebi’nin “malumumuz olan” şeklinde zikrettiği bu bilgin ne yazık ki kendisine biyografi kaynaklarında yer bulamayarak meçhul kalanlardandır. Döneminde yazılan biyografi eserlerinde kendisine yer verilmeyişi yanında yaşadığı dönem ve coğrafyaya odaklanan çalışmalarda anılmamış olması, bu bilinir âlimi bilinmezlik içinde bırakmıştır. Çalışmamız, Ragıp Paşa koleksiyonunda mahfuz Muhyiddin el-Cezerî’ye ait istinsah kayıtları içeren eserlere dikkat çekerek Çelebi’nin bahsini ettiği bilginle aynı kişi olma ihtimali üzerinde duracaktır. Teliften ziyade istinsâh ile olan yoğun meşguliyetini dikkate aldığımızda Cezerî’nin kapalı kalan hayat hikayesine dair kendi ifadelerine dayalı bir anlatı sunulacaktır. Araştırmamız, istinsah ettiği eserlerin kenarına düştüğü tâ‘likât/hâşiyelere odaklanmakla birlikte bir nüshanın sonuna iliştirilmiş şekilde bulunan Cezerî’ye ait bir kitap vakfiyesi ile detaylı bir tasvir sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Bu sayede Cezerî’nin on yedinci yüzyılda Anadolu coğrafyasında ve daha özelde Cizre-Bitlis-Küfra ekseninde geçen yaşamının izleri ailesi, hocaları, akrânları, öğrencileri ve kitapları gibi duraklardan geçerek takip edilecektir.
