THE INFLUENCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP PERSONALITY ON ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION

Öz

Purpose –Understanding
entrepreneurship and the personality traits of entrepreneurs became a critical
issue because of the economic problems that countries face today. Personality
traits have a great role in entrepreneurial intentions as it can be seen in the
related literature. The attitudes toward entrepreneurship are available to
discuss by personality traits, this paper intends to shed light on which traits
of personality have effects on entrepreneurial intentions.

Design/methodology/approach –The
convenience sampling method was chosen to apply in the research. The data were
collected by a structured questionnaire. Structural equation modelling is used
to test the influence of entrepreneurship personality traits on entrepreneurial
intention of university students.

Findings –Modelling results indicate
that entrepreneurship personality has an influence on the university students’
entrepreneurial intention. The intention of entrepreneurship is considered to
be the most effective factor on the countries’ economic development. Research
findings show that certain personality traits are related with entrepreneurial
intention significantly.

Research limitations/implications–The
research results provide implications for the decision makers who work for
higher education establishments at macro and micro levels, in terms of
efficient allocation of resources and decision making.









Originality/value–This
paper ensures empirical insights about which personality characteristics affect
intentions of entrepreneurship. This research is one of the few studies which
examined the influence of entrepreneurship personality on entrepreneurship intentions
of students in a highly industrialized province, Bursa.

GİRİŞİMCİLİK KİŞİLİĞİNİN GİRİŞİMCİLİK NİYETİ ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Öz

Amaç: Girişimcilik ve
girişimcilerin sahip olduğu kişilik özelliklerini anlamak, günümüzde ülkelerin
karşılaştığı ekonomik problemler düşünüldüğünde oldukça önemli hale gelmiştir.
İlgili yazında görüleceği üzere kişilik özelliklerinin girişimcilik niyetleri
üzerinde büyük bir etkisi vardır. Girişimciliğe yönelik tutumların kişilik
özellikleriyle tartışılmaya müsait olması nedeniyle bu çalışma hangi kişilik
özelliklerinin girişimcilik niyetleri üzerinde etkili olduğunu aydınlatmaya
çalışmaktadır.

Tasarım/metodoloji/yöntem: Bu
çalışmada kolayda örnekleme yöntemi seçilmiştir. Veriler yapılandırılmış
anketler aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Girişimcilik kişiliği özelliklerinin
üniversite öğrencilerinin girişimcilik niyetleri üzerindeki etkisini ölçmek
üzere yapısal eşitlik modelleme kullanılmıştır.

Bulgular: Modelleme sonuçları
girişimcilik kişilik özelliklerinin üniversite öğrencilerinin girişimcilik
niyetleri üzerinde etkisi olduğunu göstermektedir. Girişimcilik niyeti
ülkelerin ekonomik olarak gelişmesinde en etkili faktör olarak görülmektedir.
Araştırma bulguları belirli kişilik özelliklerinin girişimcilik niyetini önemli
ölçüde etkilediğini göstermektedir.

Araştırma kısıtları/çıkarımları: Araştırma
sonuçları makro ve mikro seviyelerdeki yükseköğretim kurumlarındaki yöneticiler
için kaynak dağıtımı ve karar verme açısından faydalı çıkarımlar içermektedir.









Özgünlük/değer: Bu
çalışma hangi kişilik özelliklerinin girişimcilik niyetini etkilediğini
gösteren bulgular içermektedir. Çalışma; oldukça sanayileşmiş bir şehir olan
Bursa’da öğrencilerin girişimcilik kişilik özelliklerinin girişimcilik niyetine
etkilerini inceleyen az sayıdaki çalışmadan biridir.
