BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF ECOTOURISM RELATED STUDIES IN SCOPUS DATABASE (2015-2024)

Öz

This study presents a comprehensive assessment of the ecotourism literature by examining 6,304 articles published in the Scopus database between 2015 and 2024 using bibliometric analysis. The analysis results show that China, Indonesia, and the United States are the most productive countries in ecotourism research. Hall CM and Han H are the most cited authors, while the Journal of Sustainable Tourism and Sustainability journals stand out. The keyword analysis reveals the most frequently used terms "ecotourism," "sustainability," and "tourism development." The keyword analysis revealed three key themes: ecotourism-focused studies, sustainability perspectives, and research related to local communities. The results demonstrate the existence of strong collaboration networks, particularly among Far Eastern universities. This study identifies current trends, conceptual frameworks, and future research opportunities in the field of ecotourism, providing an important guide for both researchers and policymakers.

SCOPUS VERİ TABANINDA EKOTURİZM İLE İLGİLİ ÇALIŞMALARIN BİBLİYOMETRİK ANALİZİ (2015-2024)

Öz

Bu çalışma, 2015–2024 yılları arasında Scopus veri tabanında yayımlanan 6304 makaleyi bibliyometrik analiz yöntemiyle inceleyerek ekoturizm literatürünün kapsamlı bir değerlendirmesini sunmaktadır. Analiz sonuçları, Çin, Endonezya ve ABD’nin ekoturizm araştırmalarında en üretken ülkeler olduğunu göstermektedir. En çok atıf alan yazarlar Hall CM ve Han H olurken, Journal of Sustainable Tourism ve Sustainability dergileri öne çıkmıştır. Anahtar kelime analizinde “ecotourism”, “sustainability” ve “tourism development” en sık kullanılan kavramlardır. Ortak kelime analizi üç temel tema ortaya koymuştur: ekoturizm odaklı çalışmalar, sürdürülebilirlik perspektifi ve yerel topluluklarla ilişkili araştırmalar. Sonuçlar, özellikle Uzakdoğu üniversiteleri arasında güçlü iş birliği ağlarının bulunduğunu göstermektedir. Bu çalışma, ekoturizm alanındaki güncel eğilimleri, kavramsal yapıyı ve gelecekteki araştırma fırsatlarını belirleyerek hem araştırmacılar hem de politika yapıcılar için önemli bir rehber niteliği taşımaktadır.
