Öz

Toksik epidermal nekroliz (TEN) ya da Lyell sendromu, derinin tüm tabakalarını içine alan yaygın epidermal eksfoliasyon, ateş, konjonktivit, rinit, öksürük, boğaz ağrısı, miyalji ve mukozal membran tutulumu ile karakterize idiosinkrazik sistemik bir hastalıktır. TEN gelişiminin en sık nedeni ilaçlardır. Tanı konulduktan sonra, tedavide sebep olan ilaç kesilmeli ve destek tedavisi verilmelidir. Antiepileptikler nöroşirurji pratiğinde profilaktik olarak sık kullanılan ve kullanımında halen ortak bir görüşün sağlanamadığı ilaçlardır. Burada profilaktik olarak kullanılan fenitoinden kısa bir süre sonra TEN gelişen 51 yaşında bayan hasta sunularak nöroşirurji pratiğinde profilaktik antiepileptik kullanımı vurgulanmıştır
