Teachers Burnout According to Some Professional Spesifications
Abstract
Object: This study has been carried out
to define the burnout situation of general,
technical, trade and vocational high schools'
teachers of Keçiören County (Ankara) and to
compare the situation according to some socio demographic characteristics. Method: The
sample group (n=366) of this descriptive study
has been chosen from the universe (N=1462)
with systematiec sampling method. The data
has been collected by applying the
questionnaire (Maslach Bumout Inventory and
the form for socio-demographic characteristics)
in intervievvs by the researcher and has been
analysed with SPSS. Results: A statistically
difference has been found betvveen emotionai
exhaaustion, personal accomplishment,
depersonalization average scale scores
according to burnout subgroup levels and
subgroups of independent variables; those
whose total vvork duration has been 21 years or
more, those vvhose vvorking duration in the
instution has been 16-20 years, those who has
been reported their professional efficiency as
"very good" or "not bad", those who reported
themselves "very good" from the point of view of
professional future, those who reported "alvvays"
recognition from the uppers, those who plan
changingthe profession. Conclusion: Periodic
and continious evaluation of burnout situation in
educational institutions and further investigation
of findings with analytic studies has been
proposed
