ÇOCUKLARIN DEPRESE/MUTSUZLUK/ÜZÜNTÖ DUYGULARIYLA BAŞAÇIKMA YOLLARININ DEPRESYON DÜZEYLERİYLE İLİŞKİSİ

Öz

Bu çalışmada çocukların kendilerini deprese/mutsuz hissettikleri zamanlarda, kullandıkları başaçıkma yollarının sayısı ve etkililiğinin cinsiyet ve sosyoekonomik statü açısından anlamlı bir farklılık gösterip, göstermediği ve çocuklar tarafından belirtilen başaçıkma yollarının sayısı ve etkililiğinin depresif semptomatolojiyle ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Başaçıkma yollarını ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla Keneally'nin yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu, depresyon düzeylerini belirlemek üzere Çocuklar için Depresyon Ölçeği (ÇDÖ) kullanılmıştır. Başaçıkma yollarının kullanımı ve sayısı cinsiyet ve sosyoekonomik statü açısından anlamlı farklılıklar göstermiştir. Çocuklar için Depresyon Ölçeğinden yüksek puan alan çocukların kullandıkları başaçıkma yollarının sayısı ve etkililiğinin düşük puan alan çocuklara oranla daha düşük olduğu saptanmıştır

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine vvhether there are sex and SES differences in the number and effectiveness rating of coping strategies given and depressive symptomatology. Coping strategies were obtained by using Keneally's semi-structured interview schedule which consisted of mainly five questions. To determine depression levels of children participated in the study, the Children Depression Inventory (CDI) were used The results shovved that SES and gender factors affected the choosing of the coping strategies. İt was found that there was a strong relationship betvveen the number of coping strategies, their effectiveness ratings and depressive symptomatology. Children who had high scores from the CDI reported less number of coping strategies and gave lower effectiveness ratings than children who had low scores from the CDI.
