The first examples of journalism films that have gained a place in cinema as a special genre appeared in the early stages of cinema. The journalism profession, which has been the subject of many films over time, has been handled from various aspects depending on the transformation it has undergone and periodic conditions, and such important works have been produced. Investigative journalism, which is accepted as an important field of journalism, has gained importance since the 1970s and has started to be addressed in cinema in parallel with this. Considering the direct relationship of investigative journalism with the social, its representation in cinema is striking. Cinema films reflect the social and such films are important in terms of reflecting the social role of journalism and its relationship with society. From this point of view, the movie "Spotlight (2015)", which was shot recently and focused on investigative journalism, was found worth examining. The aim of the study is to examine the social role of investigative journalism in the movie "Spotlight" with a sociological approach. In this study, the movie "Spotlight" has been analyzed using the Sociological Analysis Method of Arthur Asa Berger. As a result of the study; In the light of the mission attributed to investigative journalism in a social sense, it was concluded that the investigative journalism experience had a social role in the film and that it strives to make reality visible due to its professional responsibility.
