The aim of this research is to determine the traditional and cultural child care methods that are applied to newborn (0-29 days) children in Kahramanmaraş city and threaten their health. It describes the intervention of perinatal social work of child care by making evidence-based proofs of these methods. In Turkey there is no research yet on the subjects covered by perinatal social service. In this research, which is qualitative research, a case study was used. With the snowball sampling strategy, a total of 53 men and women were reached. Data were analyzed with MAXQDA 2020.In the dataset obtained from the interviews, 19 traditional child care methods were identified in the study for Kahramanmaraş. 13 traditional and cultural child cares that threaten child health were identified. It has been concluded that these traditional methods threaten children's health, leave permanent scars on the body, and even be fatal. Suggestions are given to protect child health with evidence-based practice results on how to use this information in advocacy efforts in the field of perinatal social work in Turkey.
